Coffee - Your Current Brew

Wife really wants to try it, nothing to lose, also we are in a new home with "gourmet kitchen upgrade" and it's time to replace the trusty older looking Braun with something fresh and new, thank you. I suspect we will love it after all its about the coffee. we might be considered coffee snobs. Meaning in our family circle we are particular.
Great deal ... ordered

Killer deal, Thanks again,

You will not regret that purchase.

Just finishing up a bag of this below. Wife likes it better than I do. I like stronger coffee but I had to adjust to 8 scoops per 10 cups from 9. Tomorrow will be on to my last bag, which is The Major. Need to find some deals on ground. Wife prefers The Major. I have a little time to decide.

Cowboy Coffee. A way of making coffee. Boil water and add the coffee (tablespoon per 8" cup) Let it boil for at least 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Filter that's it. The coffee is very smooth. Took be 60+ years to learn to make good coffee.

For nearly a full week in Thailand the hotels tortured me with this ubiquitous combination.
At least the 240V kettled boiled quickly, but Im totaled spoiled and this was just awful.
That said 100% better than no coffee.

When I finally escaped the guys across the street in Bankgok whipped up this masterpiece.
Color me impressed.

I keep finding excellent brick and mortar coffee joints that are semi local and amazing, so my favorite goto has honestly been changing weekly for the last 2 months or so.

My first post in this thread was about my utilitarian coffee habits vs weekend, which had been similar for a decade. Shortly after my post I went back to a grind and drip pot for weekdays as I found one that made perfect single cups and posted about it here.

For years I have always preferred an Arabicas bean, but that has changed just recently back to my early 20's preference of a mix of Robusta AND Arabica. And honestly I can go 50/50 or stronger on the Robusta side for mornings. I am incredibly enthused to be away from drinking plastic every morning, even though I did have that down to a level of satisfactory, but I was still "using" coffee on weekday mornings. I am grateful to being back to loving my morning cup on the weekdays, instead of it just being utilitarian.

My current morning brew is from a place in Lewistown, PA called East End Coffee. https://www.eastendcoffee.co/
If you enjoy a Robusta bean blend from a small roaster order their "Coopers Gap Blend". https://www.eastendcoffee.co/product/coopers-gap-blend/

(Coopers gap is a local area for hiking, 4WD, biking etc. found within one of our state forests in Mifflin County)

I must say that NOTHING smells as delicious as 8 O'Clock beans grinding in the morning, but **** there is some strong competitors!

Wow. a non collapsable melitta stand - thats commitment.
I have a plastic non collapsable somewhere that gets broken out when I end up with ground coffee.

Should I be confronted with continued heathenism such as I endured last week on the road I'll be forced to revert, or order a collapsable one and prep my own going forward.

The Keurig and the"DOUGHNUT SHOP" pods & liquid creamer the clear winner. (most expensive hotel too ( big surprise)
The others pretty bad - plastic tray types w powdered "creamer" - awful.

Typical work setup with double monitor kit.

I still maintain that the Cowboy Method of making coffee brings out more actual coffee taste than other methods. So if you are looking for more coffee "taste". I would suggest trying it at least one time.

I made my first coffee with a new blend (that I put in the fridge overnight to make an iced coffee). It isn’t too bad but I kinda regret buying such a large batch of it because this will probably take me two years to finish. This giant 900g container was only $9.99 Canadian ($6.97 US)

*LOL* 2 years!?!? Ive been cutting down a little but ... I'll never be able to do that.

My wife and I go through your 900G (32 US OZ) every two weeks! We order 4 lbs at a time.

We are loving (for now) Amazon Dark Roast in our new Moccamaster recommended by @Cropduster172
Wow. he was so right, my wife and still talk about it. Love using the Moccamaster. I feel like we are crafting our own coffee everyday. Right down to the way I set the grinds up in the cone. You can even watch the hot water from the drip bar drip onto the grinds. We brew just over the 8 cup mark on the coffee maker per day with 5 scoops of Amazon whole dark beans ground fine.

It presents such a simple "picture" of brewing coffee and the brew just comes out right. I think it has to do with the brewing temperature of the water into the unheated glass lined vacuum carafe. Strong and yet smooth.
Hands down, since we enjoy our morning coffee so much, one of the best appliances we ever bought :)
