Coffee - Your Current Brew

Only on day 2 but we already know this will be our new go to coffee.
Backstory,
A while back Costco stopped carrying our favorite bean, also our favorite "Gold Coffee" that we purchased from Florida was getting way too pricey for us and why we tried the Costco stuff.
In-between we found a satisfactory mix of Kirkland deep roast beans and another brand "moon" something. It was passable.

However, still searching for reasonable good coffee (your taste might differ) we were pleasantly surprised at none other than an Amazon Dark Coffee bean. Now on our second day, I think this is a keeper for sure. Great price, STRONG, dark coffee and yet is smooth (for a dark roast)
Sometimes we will mix the dark beans with a medium bean. The dark beans are wet so we would mix in 1/3rd medium as the dark beans clog our grinder unless we clean it every week. But not ready to do that with the Amazon beans yet.

If you like a strong bean this might be a worthy try.

Just ordered a bag. Been alternating between Costco Kirkland Signature Colombian Supremo and House Blend with Peet's Major Dickason's when it's on sale. This looks like it can fit right in.

Scamazon and their mention of 'fresh' is hilarious.

Will be curious what you think once you try it.
Also keep in mind we are only going on day 3 with this coffee but both wife and I are very encouraged. One other note: we brew coffee strong, my brother kids us and ads water to his when he visits. My sister in law loves it though.

We are choosy about coffee and over the years have found we can’t rely on Sam’s Club or Costco. Every time we liked one over the years sooner or later it’s no longer offered.

When Sam’s Club or Costco no longer offered Gold Coffee which was good for
a long time, we used to order it in 2-2lb bags = 4 pounds both direct and sometimes Amazon. About $30 for 4 pounds. I see it’s now up to $15 a pound which would be $60 now. Crazy unless price is no object for some.

Anyway if our memory serves us correctly we like the Amazon Fresh Go For The Bold Dark at less that $7 a pound just as much as the Gold Coffee at $15lb plus shipping. Very happy so far. Sometimes we need a couple weeks with it.

Look forward to your thoughts.

Amazon... perhaps. Never got stale or close to stale beans from Costco.
I'll try the Amazon Bold. If it sucks I'll initiate a return.
Good point! No risk!
One thing for sure it’s not going to be stale. Win win at this price if it’s a roast that you like.

For others my comments strictly coffee beans not ground coffee beans.

Picked up a few cases of these, in the Blu variety, for my Gaggia Classic:

I did get stale coffee from Amazon before. It was garbage to begin with and it being stale didn't help. It was Don Pablo. Nice packaging though...what's that expression re: lipstick and pigs?

90% of my Amazon coffee bean purchases have expires of at least six months out. My Tim Horton purchases are usually close to a year, which tells me that I'm getting some in, from the early days of it being roasted and bagged. It blooms in the Technivorm like it was just roasted a week or two ago.
Recently bought a closeout of ground Community coffee and it was only 3 months out. It ended up being $3.25/12 oz. bag and its darn good coffee. Once I open it, it goes in the Airscapes container above the plunger with the rubber gasket sealed lid which is quasi-airtight and it stays fresh for the week it takes to use it.

Think I will have some Eight O"Clock Columbian that is under the plunger in the Airscapes. Been there about a month. We'll see how much bloom is in the brew basket this morning.
UPdate:
It has a nice pop on the tongue with the typical wine finish of a Columbian that has been fresh ground. Smelled fresh before grinding.

We bought Don Pablo from either Sams Club or Costco. Wife thought it was just ok. I didnt like it. Did try it a couple times. No go for us. Yes, nice packaging! Very convincing that you are getting something special with that packaging.

The Sam's Club we go to is 25 miles from our beach house. They rarely carry whole bean and the very few times I saw it there, it was Charbucks...no thanks.

Have 2 within a 5 mile radius of our home. Plus a Trader Joe's and a Fresh Market as well as Costco, Wegmans, Aldi and Lidl. Aldi and Lidl are not so interesting for coffee. The others sure are.
We have Aldi near our new home, but I much prefer Lidl which I had near me in SC.
Since moving to the coast in NC IN 2023 I just walked into my first LIDL in Wilmington NC (just over an hour away), there is a Whole Foods there too. We had time to kill between my CT and MRI scans and went shopping in LIDL. Funny you mention. I did one thing there that I never did. For the fun of it I picked up a small bag coffee beans, do not expect much and glad I didnt get more now, though I dont expect much, thanks for letting me know! *LOL*

I do watch what I eat but its hard to get past LIDL"bakery" section when you haven't walked in one in over two years*LOL* I couldnt resist and being I am about to start a fight with cancer (it is going to be beat) I treated myself to a Choc Chip Cookie (awesome) and an Everything Bagel. But all their bakery stuff is good there I do resist and only bought because it's been so long. I resisted the big Pretzel *LOL* and the twists.

This is the LIDL coffee I picked up for the heck of it. Just a "one off" for the heck of it.
The second photo is another Amazon coffee I bought along with the Amazon Dark Roast Incase we found that "Dark" we are talking about too bitter or strong. But the dark is good which I didnt know when I ordered it so picked up this medium roast to mix in IF the wet dark beans start clogging up the grinder.

Make no mistake, I expect nothing from the coffee photo below, I just wanted a back up to mix in and weaken the dark roast if needed. We dont do medium except to mix in if we try a nasty dark.
