Lots of solid machines on the market for espresso, my choice is from Rancilio, the Silvia Pro. Might seem costly to some, but when you have commercial build quality, absolute top notch simplicity/capability that will last for decades the thing is worth every penny. My daily habit is 5-6 extractions, costing me less than .50 each depending on what green I roast. Any shop in my area will easily charge $2.50 minimum per extraction, so I am saving 75-80% at this point as my setup has long paid for itself. Also have yet to have espresso from any place worth a repeat visit, so there's that.
If I were to do drip again it'd likely be a model from Technivorm or better yet maybe go back to the press method. Hope I never see those days as espresso has never let me down in any way.
