Thanks for posting.

Yeah, I'd deffinately sell 'em! You never know what they'll be like in you engine these days.

Do they have any marking on them such as SE/SF?

With the money you get from Craig's List or e-bay, you can buy proper oil today. Todays oils are probably the best oils ever made/blended.

this oil that old is not good!

I have used some in older cars I have that see little use and it's done fine, I use 5w 30 in all the modern cars so I don't put this stuff in those.

I'll just hang on to them for now and just have them on display in the garage. I think the only way I'd ever sell it is all at one time. I would want to mess with selling 1 bottle here and 1 bottle there.

What a great thread. Thank you Jayg for taking the time to post these pics. I counted about 280 quarts of oil, give or take a few quarts.

A couple of questions if I may. What is in the blue paint can like thing in the second picture that has "OCO" (Sunoco?) printed on it? Also what is in the Union 76 can in the second picture?

As far as selling them to get new oil, If i wanted new oil I'd go to Walmart and get it. The reason I wanted this is the nostalgia factor more than any potential to sell and replace it with modern oil.

70's - 80's I'd guess

All that needs to be done is check what years each API rating was issued and compare to what's on the container, will give a general range of age for the product...

I thought so. I was born in 81 and I can still kinda remember seeing those, or atleast thought I could, at the texaco gas station that used to be in our town when i was growing up. It changed to a Hess station years ago.

Hello, As "they" always say, "Just get started". You'll soon learn just how many people want a potentially leaky, potentially very expensive paperweight. You'd have to wrap one in 25 lbs. of absorbent or lie to the shipper. Zeroing in on the leaking package wouldn't be difficult. At least you could cry 'selective prosecution' on the part of a politician of your choosing. Consider selling the stuff to a local small engine repair shop. Kira
