Hello Everyone,

I have a small stash of Citgo 10-40 SL motor oil that I bought from the dollar store about 6 or 7 years ago. I ran it in my cars when I was a poor college student without any problems, changing the oil every 3,000 miles.

Now I am a poor family man and I'm thinking about breaking into the last 17 quarts of this stuff to run my 1992 Toyota Corolla. Is this a good idea? Has anyone heard of this oil?

Thanks!!

Phew! Thanks guys!

Yeah I'll keep the oci at 3,000 just to be safe. I'm reading that toyotas have a tendancy to sludge.

No no no! That stuff will destroy your Toyota engine fast. Send it to me I will put it to good use. BTW where was the oil stored?

IMO....the 10w40 ia to heavy for a Corolla/

I would suggest purchasing a 5w20.... and blend it with the 10w40 (half and half). That will be a much better combination the 10w40 alone.

I had my oil stored in my garage for about 5 years, so it did see some winters, but never any extreme heat. Now I am storing my oil in the basement.

I'll mix it with 5-20, but since I can't buy Citgo anymore, what oil should I mix it with? Something cheap like Peak or SuperTech?

This is the caveat.
Not a huge big deal, though.
