Christmas Dinner: what are you folks having?

Oh, and sushi is our Christmas Eve tradition, because we gather with my wife’s entire family and usually get a private room at our favorite place in Boston. Due to Covid we‘re not having anyone over.

My FIL’s job has had Covid cases, my SIL is a nurse, and I work at a large company. My company does contact tracing. Not to mention just about every state is on my company’s ”do not travel to” list.

I can’t wait for next year!!!

OT: we’re lean this year, but everyone else is compensating for not being able to get together by sending us WAY too many gifts for the kids, even though these spoiled kids of mine have too many toys as is. We actually put some toys aside and let him open some throughout the year, when he accomplishes something.
Gifts are the best part lol 😂 can’t be a kid without gifts. I am excited as my mom said she bought me a lot of tools for my gifts which is exactly what I asked for.

Purchased a 7lb Prime primerib for cooking on the primo grill. Roasted brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes, and various deserts. Blueberry pie, fig pie (yup) and christmas cookies. Homemade parker house rolls if I can find some potato flour today.

The weather is pretty nice so I expect to BBQ. Prime rib steak, horseradish sauce, potatoes, vegetables, and a salad. Someone dropped off a food basket but I haven't inspected it yet. I saw a huge salami sticking out between the vino and the panettone. I don't think I'll be starving anytime soon.

I haven’t ever seen Diehard or Gremlins my mom forces me to watch Charlie Brown Christmas and Rudolph, Frosty and all of those she picks all the Christmas stuff to do she won’t go against tradition lol.
Until recently I thought we needed to talk. Now it turns out I need to also talk to your mom.

Wife’s homemade chicken pie along with killed lettuce and green onion salad, with chopped hard boiled eggs sprinkled over, and whole Cranberry sauce. No bread, as the heavy liquid flour mixture she pours over the pie comes out as a beautiful brown crust on top with a nice dumpling texture just below the crust. She actually bakes two of them because everybody has seconds! I look forward to this pie every year.
