I was in a collision with our Honda about a week ago. A lady pulled out in front of me, out of a gas station. I was in the right-hand lane of a 4-lane divided road. She pulled out into the left-hand lane, and then turned hard right immediately after, into the next business' driveway. She came across my path, and I hit her passenger side rear door (2012 Malibu) with my driver side front corner. I was going about 45-50 mph (speed limit 50), but full ABS action whoa'd me down to maybe 10-15 mph at the point of impact. No airbags deployed in either vehicle and nobody was hurt; both cars had only cosmetic damage. She was cited for an improper lane change.

A few days later, my car was at the body shop and I was in a loaner. I paid $6/day to upgrade over the base $30/day car. The next day, I had buyers remorse and returned to Enterprise to see what they had for the covered $30/day and the man at the counter just fixed the price of my 300 to be $30/day. Nice customer service move (I have always been impressed with the Enterprise stores in town). USAA is my insurance company and also the at-fault driver's insurance company. The process has gone super easy. My car was estimated by the body shop on Friday evening and parts were ordered on Monday. I should get it back later this week or early next week. I'm getting a new upper/lower bumper cover, a new LF fender, and various support reinforcements and trim pieces. The metal pieces are listed as CAPA aftermarket items (don't know if this assures real quality or not). The front edge of the driver's door is also chipped, and it appears they are going to repaint that. They are also going to refinish the LF wheel, as it had scuffs in the aluminum from the collision. Total repair bill is a few dollars short of $2,000.

And because this collision center is in USAA's "network of providers", there is a lifetime guarantee on all work and parts provided for this repair. If I ever have any issues with the repairs, I only have to deal with USAA, and not the collision center itself.

USAA called a few days ago to say that the other driver's policy is liable for the damages and will be paying my deductible to the body shop. USAA has been communicative and responsive through all of this. I've said before that we have many products through USAA, including mortgage, banking and investments, and many types of insurance, and they're a company I actually enjoy talking to.

So, cheers to USAA, and to Enterprise as well. Both have provided top-notch service.

Firstly, glad you are ok. Secondly, sounds like your people are good people. Stick with them

Sounds great. However, my experience is that a good body shop is better than a good insurance company *and* a good rental car company combined...

The work that the body shop does will always be there until the day that you sell the vehicle. The performance of the insurance company and the rental car company is forgotten fairly quickly.

Why didn't you go through the other person's insurance from the beginning if they accepted liability? Filing a collision claim looks bad on your policy regardless of fault. I only recommend people do it (if they aren't at fault) as a last resort, if the other party isn't accepting liability.

My policy, and presumably OPs, states that you have to call them after an accident regardless of who's at fault, and regardless of if you yourself only have liability and don't expect to be fixed. They just want to know.

My wife's been rear ended three times... all three times due to cellphone yakking behind her... and my insurance knows. Not her fault of course. Rates haven't gone up.

The other person's policy didn't accept liability until they received her recorded statement. She dodged phone calls for days, but they eventually got her statement. I knew I wasn't going to pay my deductible anyway, and life's too short to worry about whether my insurance premium will go up or not. I'm going to get my car fixed and will move on.

For what it's worth, I've been in two accidents in the last 3 or 4 years. Neither were my fault. I filed claims with my insurance company both times, and both times, the other party's policy has paid my deductible and rental. My insurance premiums keep going down the longer I have a clean record.

NHGUY, the 300 is a nice car, but I'm anxious to get back into the CR-V. I'm not really a "sedan" person. I prefer sitting more upright and not as low to the ground.

To be sure, I will review the collision center's work when I get the car back. But I wanted to give credit where credit is due so far. Few people praise a good company, but many will badmouth a poor one.
