How do you know the mechanic used your oil? He could just keep the better oil and give you the cheap bulk oil. This happened to me at Walmart. He did not try to steal my oil, but he went to put the bulk oil in, and I told him to stop.

1) Find a new shop that you can trust.
2) #1 and/or find a shop where you are able to seeing the work being done.

I take my own oil to the Toyota dealer and they charge $14 using their filter.
Places around me charge $10-$40. I might give one last shop a chance before I just buy some ramps and jack stands to do it myself.
