Cheaper carrier than Verizon?

Make sure your Verizon phones are unlocked before leaving. Tracfone is owned by Verizon so the phones you have should work with the same coverage, but the hardware must be unlocked. Verizon also owns Straight Talk, Total, and Walmart Family Mobile, all sold at Walmart. The amount of in-person support you may be able to get at Walmart of course varies by the person.

I was in the process of switching from Verizon (20+ years) to Visible. As soon as I clicked the port lock code, I got an offer to save $20 per line per month so I stayed for just a couple dollars more than Visible was going to be.

The main problem with a lot of these sub-brands is they are MVNOs so officially they are 2nd tier with respect to network priority. This goes for Visible, Tracfone (also VZW network), Mint, Google Fi, etc.

Is it a risk? Yes.
Is it really a risk? Probably not.
Currently Visible has an offer for new subscribers $19 for 26 months, all in. I don't doubt that Verizon would try keep current customers with a better offer. Perhaps the OP should try that. As for your final conclusion about the potential "risk", that has been the personal experience with Visible service.

Can I get tracfone set up at my Wal Mart? Thank you
I'm not very versed in Tracfone. My dad has been a customer of theirs for many many years, 15-20. I think he handles most of it all online or on phone.

Definitely make sure the phone is unlocked. There were some recent court rulings about this and I don't believe it has to be automatic anymore.

We use ATT Annual Prepaid Plan. $300 per year for 16gb data with rollover, unlimited minutes and text.

Also free roaming and data roaming in Mexico and Canada (two countries i travel to frequently).

If you buy the $300 gift card from target online they don't charge tax, if you renew from the website you pay 40-50 in tax.

I've used this plan for 4-5 years now.

We need to stick with ATT as they are king for rural Texas for coverage.

When I got the IPhone 17 it was on Verizon. I just had to pay state sales tax so I’ll ask if it’s unlocked

Happy Visible customer. $20/month for each of our lines.
Previously was a comcast/xfinity mobile user at about the same cost. Same cell service (both Verizon network) but much better customer service and promotion transparency from visible. Comcast CS was a huge headache.

Was also happy on Mint for a short while. I had to transfer to them so I could return to xfinity and be a "new customer" again.

If your phone is on verizon now, you can seamlessly move to Visible, or XFM.

Pretty sure Visible is now owned by VZW, just as Mint is by TMob.

Good day folks. I realized Verizon screwed me last month. Took me off auto pay then added insurance I did not ask for/want. Thinking of tracfone or. Phone is from Verizon also. Shame as was paying $45/month with auto pay as I’m a legacy member. Just my experience and any better carriers?
I have Tello, Unlimited Calls and Texts for about $13.26 or so. My plan is like $8.00 a month plus the taxes and other fees. I have no Data on this Phone. Tracfone has a cheap plan like Tello but I think it is $6.00 more a month.

I was with ATT Annual Prepaid Plan for a few years. $300 per year for 16gb data with rollover, unlimited minutes and text. I bought the refill cards from target which worked out to be lower than $300 at certain times plus no tax.

Then I tried a new number with Visible which was okay but a lot of these MVNO providers have regular data/premium data and throttle your download speeds.

Then I switched to Total Wireless bring your own phone deal and forget about it best I've ever been on and that includes ATT, ATT Prepaid, Verizon, Verizon Pre-Paid, T-Mobile, Xfinity, Visible, etc... and it's owned by Verizon just like Visible is. So basically by bringing my own phone I get the $60 plan for $30 a month https://www.totalwireless.com/m/plans/smartphone and nobody can touch me as far as download speeds go as I've battled quite a few family/friends and nobody has beaten me yet even though their paying more on almost all the carriers and it shows me there is no throttle on my plan like I've seen on the others...
  • Unlimited 5G data that won't slow you down
  • Unlimited Hotspot⁵
  • Calling to 180 countries, texting to 200+ countries, roaming in Canada & Mexico²
  • Plus roaming in 30+ countries and $10 long distance credit to 120+ countries⁶
  • Get your fourth line at no additional cost

Disney+ Premium on us⁷

Technically I could go down to the $50 plan at $25 instead of the $60 plan at $30 just depends if ya think the extra $5/month is worth unlimited hotspot, $10 long distance credit, disney+ premium? For me I probably should go down as don't really use hotspot, long distance and minimal disney+ usage but since it's only $5 more I've stayed on the $30 plan.

T mobile has a deal right now. If you bring in a copy of your Verizon or at&t bill they'll beat it.

That plan (as well as T-Mobile own brand overall) is not the deal that it used to be. Now it has no phone subsidy and only 50 GB of data.
I am coming up at month 23 of a 24 month contract. I just looked at T-Life. I can get a choice of 4 phones free, one of which of which is an Samsung S25 (I currently have an S24) for free with monthly credit. I can upgrade now at any time now.

Maybe what you say is true for a new customer-IDK.

I have been using Redpocket on Verizon towers for 5+ years. No issues at all. It seems they have raised their prices though. Currently my el cheapo annual plan pretax price is $110 but used to be $90.

I was on Redpocket for several years, but when US Mobile starting offering phones for dirt cheap, I switched. Redpocket had nothing comparable, and the annual cost was higher as well. Both are fine. You can pick your network. I like ATT. Tried Verizon via USM, and the service was slightly worse, but still usable.

The negative is that MVNOs typically have less network priority, so you could see slower data or phone issues at times of network congestion.

With Visible, only their cheapest plan (regularly $25/mo) can (and will) see de-prioritization. It is also 4G/5G only. I was on this plan for a year, and only noticed it at events where there were lots of people in the area (college basketball games, outdoor concerts, etc).

Their $35/mo and $45/mo plans are 5G Ultra and are NOT deprioritized. All data is unlimited, including 5G Ultra.

I am currently on their $35/mo (I pay $30 a month) plan and I am very happy with it. I don't even use my wi-fi at home anymore. Their 5G Ultra is faster.
