Cheap Part Regret/Success

Bought a cheap O2 sensor off RockAuto to fix a CEL so the wife's old Cavalier would pass smog. Which it did, but immediately started getting drastically worse MPG. Learned my lesson, replaced again with OEM AcDelco, and MPG returned to where it always was.

I try my best to go OEM when possible, the pay once philosophy. I have and do use aftermarket, but try to seek out the higher quality stuff. Has been fine for the most part.
I’m on the same program.

And I purchase from known sellers, generally run from dealership parts departments, to help ensure I don’t get counterfeits…I believe there are too many fakes on sites like Amazon, EBay and the like

WJB is a U.S.-based importer and distributor, but most WJB‑branded bearings themselves are manufactured in China and then shipped to WJB’s U.S. warehouses in California and North Carolina.

Company vs. manufacturing

  • WJB Group (WJB Bearings) is headquartered in City of Industry, California, with a large warehouse also in Newton, North Carolina.
  • The company positions itself as a major supplier of imported precision bearings and housed units in the North American market.

Where the bearings are actually made

  • WJB shares branding and business ties with China Shaoguan Southeast Bearing Co., a TS16949‑certified bearing manufacturer in China, which produces automotive bearings under a shared brand.
  • Import records show WJB importing containers of bearings and hub units from Chinese suppliers such as Zhejiang Tongtao Bearing Co., with boxes marked “Made in China.”
  • Shipment data indicates that the overwhelming majority of WJB Bearings Inc. imports come from China, with only a tiny fraction associated with U.S. origin.

What this means when you buy WJB

  • WJB designs/specifies and distributes from the U.S., but for wheel bearings, hubs, and most other bearing products, you should expect Chinese manufacture unless the box explicitly states otherwise.
  • As with other brands, the exact country of origin for a given part number can only be confirmed by checking the marking on the bearing or the country-of-origin label on the packaging.
