How on earth is this possible without major upgrades?

According to the description he is saying just an AFE Stage 2 CAI and OEM SRT8 Exhaust. I see that he's on a slight hill but I wouldn't think that, that could be responsible for such an increase in speed.

24 years ago:The first generation Taurus SHO can accelerate from 0-60 mph in 6.6 seconds[5] with a quarter mile time of 15.0-15.2 seconds. Car and Driver reported in their December 1989 issue a top speed of 143 mph (230 km/h).

There are a lot of examples of mediocre cars turning good times. Sleeper style

edit:it would be nice to option up a car to be a sleeper, the way it used to be.

No doubt, but I own a stock (other than the OEM R/T exhaust) 3.5l Charger and the best 0-60 time I've been able to get is in the 8s, albeit through crude measuring techniques. I just have a hard time believing that the CAI and SRT exhaust would have that much of an impact.

He is using GPS to time it. Somehow, I think HIS could be off?

That thing pulls like a Grand Caravan. With the old 3,8.

I had clocked 6.6 on my own 1990 SHO when I borrowed a colleague's accelerometer. It has been now almost 25 years and I can't remember what that thingy was called or the name of that person :-( As they say, the memory is the second thing to go!

Yes that looks more accurate. Also, he's not using GPS he's using a Dashhawk which plugs into the OBD2.

Charger's on the bottle.

I can walk away from a 3.5 5-speed Charger SXT. Know this from experience. My car probably can't cut a sub 7 second 0-60. I do have the exact same horsepower as the above mentioned SHO but it also has 7 less ft-lbs of torque and weighs about 300lbs more.

The downhill grade is deceptive or he's spraying.

He started at 2 seconds and reaches 60 at the 10 second mark. 8 seconds on the dot, I don't think you're old van could do that. Not that, that is too fast or anything but it certainly isn't a slouch.

It could, I had a 2002 5 speed. That car hauled.

I remember how surprised we were when the Altima SE-R came out. Legitimate mid-low 14 second 1/4 mile times. Dangerously close to LT1 Camaro Z/28 times. Top it off with a usable rear seat and a bigger trunk than the previous gen Maxima.

Just about everybody's V6 midsize will run 14s now...or quicker. But it was pretty darn quick at the time

It's impressive but far from typical.

Remember he has a NAG1 in that model with one of the lowest first gear ratios used in a five speed slushbox.

I think he's on the bottle...

Yeah, most articles that I've read with that engine in an Altima(from '02-present) was at or below 6 sec flat to 60 mph. Most family sedans today are doing below 7 sec to 60 mph with a V6.

I've even read 6.3 sec 0-60 in a Honda Accord...Geeeesh!

I remember in the late 80's, the Dodge OMNI/Shelby Charger GLHS were banging out 0-60 in 6.7 sec's. And then in the early 90's, the Dodge Spirit Turbo was below 6.0 sec...Again, Geeeesh!

I'm happy with anything that'll do ~9.0 sec from 0-60 mph
