2000 Lexus LS400: Smooth, quick, and quiet aptly describe the LS 400. Acceleration is strong at 6.1 seconds to 60 mph in our tests, highway passing ability impressive

Yeah, most articles that I've read with that engine in an Altima(from '02-present) was at or below 6 sec flat to 60 mph. Most family sedans today are doing below 7 sec to 60 mph with a V6.

I've even read 6.3 sec 0-60 in a Honda Accord...Geeeesh!

I remember in the late 80's, the Dodge OMNI/Shelby Charger GLHS were banging out 0-60 in 6.7 sec's. And then in the early 90's, the Dodge Spirit Turbo was below 6.0 sec...Again, Geeeesh!

I'm happy with anything that'll do ~9.0 sec from 0-60 mph

I was trying to find the article that said "1995 Lexus LS400 out-accelerates Ferrari" (they probably put it against a 208 or 328.)

I never get tired of watching that Bose suspension LS400 "jump," btw.

It may possible.

The 2013 Accord Sport Sedan (189HP 4cyl) manages 0-60 in 6.6 seconds with manual transmission according to Car and Driver. It manages 24mpg city and 35 highway. Highly interested in this car as family replacement in a few years that gets decent MPG, fits a family and has decent driving dynamics.

Remember he has a NAG1 in that model with one of the lowest first gear ratios used in a five speed slushbox.

I think he's on the bottle...

I thought '07 was the last year the NAG1 was used?

Guys, I'm not saying its impressive for a V6 sedan to run these times. I'm saying its impressive for this particular vehicle to do so. If you read the LX forums most individuals are getting 8 sec times. For this guy to say all he's got is the CAI and SRT exhaust, and that is supposedly shaving a second and a half off his time, I don't buy it. Something seems off, as some of you have mentioned he might be on the bottle, thanks for the replies BTW! He's sticking to his story that he's got no major mods though. Something isn't adding up.

I hear you. 1.5 seconds is suspect. I have the exact same mods (DC Sports CAI and Racing Beat exhaust) and I doubt I shaved even .25 of a second off my 0-60. (but it does sound a lot deeper ,not very loud but deeper richer tone) That's why I suspected N2O.

One off?

I don't know. I did have an '81 GPz550 that would dispatch larger FJ600s and the occasional ZX600A Ninja as well as my friend's V30 Magna. Ran 7.9-8.0s in the 1/8th mile (Texas Raceway) which calculates to about a 12.4 1/4 mi. Magazine pro-riders were only getting 12.65-12.99 on the little GPz.
Was it a one off? Maybe. Was it before I joined the Army and bulked up (about 130lbs)? Possibly. Bike's long gone so I'll never know. But I didn't knock 1.5 seconds off my time for sure. GS1150Es and V65s were killing me.

If the intake and exhaust is that bad of a bottleneck on the 3.5 (doubtful. It had been in production for over a decade by the time the LX cars got it) someone stands to make a lot of money with a stock style intake and airbox that flows better. Priced and marketed correctly and you could sell a lot of kits to a lot of 300, Charger, and Challenger owners.

OK? The 1998-2003 M5 could do it in the mid to high 4's (cited times range from 4.5-4.8 seconds). Both cars are V8's, so I'm unsure as to why this is relevant to this thread?

Those cars were/are awesome. I think this Charger is on the bottle also. Fairly heavy car. Years ago Summit Racing used to sell what they called the "Sneaky Pete" nitrous oxide set up.

Was it the little one that looked like a fire extinguisher? If so, I remember the kit
