Change from 0w20 to 5w30

I think the op just wants to minimize his oil inventory being his other vehicles take 5w30.
This is probably the biggest reason for me to do so. There were times in the past I'd have three different oil weight for three different cars. Going to one weight is not only good for changes but for the occasional top up as well. It sounds like I'm not at risk of blowing it up:) so I'm going ahead with the change.

yeah, you'll be fine. I thought of doing this when I use up my stash of 0W20.. my 16' Rogue is 0W20/5W30 wife's 20' Sentra states 0W20 but just a few years back Nissan was spec'd mostly at 5W30.

I was going to make a comment on my thread about going from 0w20 to 5w30 but it's been locked:

I have a 2022 wrx that i like to drive spirited pretty frequently. On 0w20 I did notice minimal, but noticeable, oil consumption. The manual states 1L is normal every 3k miles. I noticed half of that.

I'm at about 1k miles with 5w30 and it started at exactly the full marker and still sits exactly at the full marker. I check on the same spot on my drive way every time.

I have a 2018 Mazda 3 that just went off warranty. Car only has 28K miles on it. Most of these have been long road trip miles. I have always used QS 0w20 full syn. since new. My 21 Mazda CX5 turbo and older Nissan PU both use 5w30. I've seen numerous threads discussed here that often suggest using 5w30 in lieu of 0w20. I'm thinking of the change purely from the standpoint of having to only keep one weight of oil on hand (planning on sticking with QS as it has has been my favorite for its Mazda loving moly content). Any good reasons why I should not do this? Thanks
It is very likely your manual states you can use 5w-30. It depends on the year, but Mazda has stated the Skyactiv 2.5 is good with 5w-30.

I have a 22 wrx with 25k miles and notice exactly the same consumption. About half qt every 3k. I might switch to 5w-30 now that summer is here. I noticed using subaru oil the consumption was worse than when I used castrol edge 0w-20. Only needed to add maybe 1/4 qt every 3k.

On our bought new by us Honda Element I ran either 0W-20 or occasionally 5W-20 from new to 70K or 80K miles. Been on 5W-30 ever since. Vehicle has 252K miles on it now. Still runs perfectly and "uses" just 1/8th quart per 5K OCI. No regrets on the 5W-30 switch, but I bet the motor would be just as happy and healthy had it lived on 0W-20 only.
