7.5K mile dino and 12K mile synthetic intervals are UOA backed? (just want to make sure this isn't a mechanical issue due to increased wear)

Well, it was over a period of time. I had to replace my oil separator (PCV system) about 30K ago. I have done used oil analysis and they have supported my OCI's. It's all expressway driving and long trips daily...easy on oil type of driving.

Increased consumption over time then? Hmm.....

Does anything think it might be a ring issue? (despite good used oil analysis)

The ultimate weapon for an oil burning Saturn has always been Mobil Delvac 1300 15w40. Dont know why it fairs better than Rotella or Delo but it does.

305k is a few miles. While most vehicles I've had seem to stay consistent with the oil it uses some will wear and use more as they get older.

305k may be a good time to go to a HM if it becomes excessive.

Far from the 75,001 that most oil companies are spewing..

Personally I love the Mobil 1 10w30 High Mileage. One of the best add packs out there. Very good stuff! I'm running it next in my wife's SUV when the Castrol Edge 10w30 run is up.

But it did not work as well as the Castrol in the OPs vehicle.

It may be a excellent oil but not for him.

Hello I have a 2006 Toyota Camry V6 with 183,000 miles.. I use castrol gtx hm 5w30 from walmart lube, $35. my car is running great, no oil consumption.. I never used synthetic on my car. Maybe I should stick it with regular conventional oil.

but yea Castrol gtx oil is the best. after 6000 miles, the oil didn't turn black. I think it still good for another 3-4000 miles.

I like castrol motor oil. I don't have any problems. my 2010 honda pilot will be due for the first oil changed. I will use castrol syntec.

Yep, that's the whole point. For me Valvoline MaxLife worked better than Castrol High Mileage, at least from a leak and knocking standpoint. I happen to "like" a lot of Castrol products, but one should use what works for oneself. Perhaps Castrol High Mileage is better for oil burning and MaxLife is better for seal swelling. What works, works.

Castrol GTX High Mileage vs. Valvoline MaxLife!

I would say that MaxLife came First, however these two oils may, perhaps, be amongst the Top Selection of High Mileage Oils, since So many Companies are now Producing Oils labeled as Such. Pennzoil is supposed to have just "Reformulated" their High Mileage oil if what i read here is right, and every Manufacturer seems to have one.

Illustrating just how certain Oils work in different Applications, One size does not fit all. An Observation.

Now don't hit me with the over one million miles of combined experience LOL.. or 30 years etc... I'm not bashing m1

Just saw your post as I have been out of town all day. I was just rattling your cage a bit. Not a problem with Castrol oil at all, it's just their blame dumb adds they have.

Glad you replied back, I thought I really upset your whole outlook on life,.... for a short time I even thought I had converted you over to Castrol what with the PU post hitting on the high extended drains.... then this Castrol thread I was looking for a change at your bottom header reading Castrol Edge or PU being used in your engines.... BUT I was secretly scamming up a post to convert you over on the ATF which would have taken a lot more work....

It will hard to change me. With no failures with engines or transmissions for as long as my history has been with M1, you'll have your work cut out for you. Oh! One thing for sure, I'll not be slaming the other oils as I believe all the major products are outstanding these days. 32 years ago M1 and Amsoil were way ahead of everything else. Not so much any more.
