I did our last service for the year last week on one of our new 975c C18 600hp Challenger tractors this was the mandatory 100-250hr break in recommended by Caterpillar, engine,Hydraulics and fuel.

for your viewing pleasure...

engine oil,, High efficiency very well built heavy duty filter flows 80GPM, CAT says this is a 500 hr filter i believe it,trying to find out the efficiency rating on this, working on it.

love the banding that holds the media uniformed

center tube shot...escraps should follow this design

Primary fuel same design as the above oil ...

Primary hydraulics and transmission, both apps take the same filter 15 or 20 micron i beleive...

By pass....

upon inspection the filterers showed no abnormal signs of wear or larger particles, a complete filter change is around $300.

Yea give or take a few bucks, that's all filters ,air and lubes, there's other little misc. filters also on this unit like break system, cabin air, secondary hydraulics etc,etc...

not cheap by any means..

I need to figure out how to rig one of those 1R-1808's to my civic. Double my oil capacity and, lets see...500 hours x 60mph average = 30,000 mile filter interval!!!

You would probably loose .5mpg because of the weight! lol

You don't want to ask how much the engine/tractor costs. I used to have some land I had hayed before putting cows on and the tractor and bailer and the thingie that picked up the bails and stacked them made the cost of $2.00 per bail 'what it worked out to ' a steal.

Those are awesome powerful tractors. I know from experience!!!

When I was an intern I needed to move a AGCO Challenger out of a tight space so that I could do some development work on the excavator (Deere 240D, 26 tons) sitting in front of it. The Ex counterweight was toward the front of the Challenger. I had never operated the Challenger before, but I was familiar with the jolly green giant Atlas-series JDeere tractors, so I figgered I could do it
smirk.gif
. I got in, started it up, put it in "1" (that'll give me time to maneuver, I thought), and eased in the clutch. The thing moved real slow (duh), but when I wanted it to stop moving I couldn't make it stop, no matter how hard I stomped on the brake with BOTH feet!
crazy2.gif
Then the intern riding with me on the jumpseat got the bright idea to stop the CLUTCH right at the time the Challenger counterweights kissed the excavator counterweight.
shocked.gif
The whole excavator bounced and rocked!!
sick.gif
We just about soiled our seats!!

It's funny now, though. That huge 15.8L turbodiesel didn't care about no brakes, no how.

Yes very impressive units we demoed a deer and this one and with out getting into all the details we settled on the Challenger plus they threw in auto steer so that sealed the deal.

we actually have two this one and a older 2008 B model, with the silage blades on they weigh in around 50,000 lbs each, at 85-90% load pulling she burns 30gal an hour, but under that it's very good on fuel, puts a smile on my face every time i hop in her.

Those filters ain't got nothin' on a Fram orange can.
Yeah man come on, where's the 'engineered media' endcaps?

Those filters are sick, glad I don't have to pay for them. Not sure my HF exhaust cutter would work too well on those.

99% at 21 microns. With the Donaldson name on it: P551808, both made in Illinois, I believe.

It is the high efficiency version of the CAT 1R-0716, 2P-4005. Those are 99% at 39 micron.

Donaldson goes one step further with the ELF7405 Endurance synthetic with 99% efficiency at 15 microns

Me too! I will need thread adapters and a small wheel to keep the bottom of the filter from scraping the road. No problem!
