I know that Castrol Syntec is now called Castrol Edge with Syntec. I was wondering what is the difference between them now that the name is switched?

I actually spoke to a Castrol rep. one day and I was curious myself. I work at Advance Auto Parts so naturally I wanted to know the difference. What he told me is that the whole 'Edge' factor is actually a new special type of molecule that Castrol has engineered that is supposedly smaller and more advanced than previous synthetic molecules. So this EDGE molecule is used in both the Syntec and Titanium versions of Castrol synthetics , the only difference is the Titanium Edge in the gold containers is more along the lines of an EP oil where the Syntec is your typical synthetic oil. Hope it helped.
