I'm using Castrol Syntec 5w-20 for my 06 Accord V6 6 speed. Just wondering who else on this site is using Castrol Syntec non German?

I used it for about 250,000 of the 300,000 miles I put on my 89 Toyota 4X4. I used the 10W-30 and a 7,500 OCI and had 0 oil related problems. I have since seen the light

and joined the ranks of the Amsoil faithfull.

If Castrol Syntec got you to 250,000, that should make you see the light and stick with the Syntec! But, to each their own.

So far 191 views and only 2 people use Syntec! Looks like it hardly sells.

I have used it and would not hesitate if it cost less than PP or M1 but most times it does not so no special reason for me to use it. If you use it great it is good oil.

I have used Castrol Syntec 5W-30 in my 2005 Jeep Liberty since the first oil change and appears to be working well according to a UOA I have posted in the UOA forum.

imo, 20 weight oil negates one of the main advantages of synth oil, cold/cool flow. imo if using 20 weight, just get a good dino oil.

Recently I was at my local AutoZone and, on the shelves of oil, there was Castrol Syntec 0W30 but, it didn't say made in Germany! I found this very surprising.

Could be some old stock.

The local AZ in my area has the made in Germany on the back of the bottle, near the API symbol.

!

THAT'S the stuff! GC!

I picked up some Syntec 5W-20 / GC 0W-30 during one of the AutoZone promotions awhile back. The Syntec 5W-20 is being used along with a Mobil 1 filter in my wife's 06 VUE, while the GC will be used on my Volvo wagon.

This AZ store in my area has a very fast turnover of motor oils including GC. I have always seen the GC there before until now! This lot of bottles does not say(that I can find on the bottles) Made In Germany. Im very supprised because it is 0W30 SYNTEC.

I am using it now in my 4.7 Dodge Durango. No complaints. Now that the weather is getting warm I am using 4 quarts GTX and 2 to 3 quarts of SYNTEC. Runs smooth with 122,000+ miles. I drive 100+ miles a day all highway so I do my OCi's at 5K.

i just recently drained Syntec 5W-30 from my Mom's 2000 Mercury Cougar. it was in for 12,500 miles.

i know... thats alot!

waiting on the blackstone kit to send sample for UOA. should be interesting.

Syntec would be considered a second tier Synthetic. Does not meet GM4718m for example. M1 would be a far better choice, or Penz Plat.

judging strictly by the "feel" i would say i like PP better already. after draining that syntec out of my Mom's Merc Cougar i went ahead and gave it a fresh fill of PP. the car felt smoother right away. but thats just feel. will know for sure which one does better after UOA's.
