Would this oil suffice for a 6-7k run in my 3.7 F150? Draining the motorcraft 5w30 and quart of HPL EC30 tomorrow with 2k on it. Ill cut open the filter and post pics. Never ordered the HPL oil I wanted to run so if the Euro is good thatll work for now.

Why are you draining Motorcraft / EC30 after only 2k? Is your engine a dirty mess?

I reckon it doesn't get cold enough in the Gulf Coast of Louisiana to affect oil choice much.
Any oil with a 5W winter rating is acceptable down to -30 or so.
My opinion is any Euro oil will work, and work better, than any API ILSAC oil. Just my experience.

It's really rare to read the use of 5w30 in the summer and 5w40 in the winter.
Sorta' backwards thinking for a majority of members here

BTW.... I've used the Castrol Euro 5w40 in Michigan winter two years ago. Blended three 5w40 Euros with 1-1/2 Castrol EP 5w20s, for the wife's Kia. Immediately became quiet as a church mouse, in comparison to the 0w30 boutique oil I drained that same day

Used to run 20w40 castrol Dino oil in older Subaru legacies as ski cars. I sold both at around 300k with zero engine issues.
Its running just fine on the 5W40
