Ah ..the sensible notion that you're a member of a society that actually wants its members to benefit from the toils of the society.

Interesting concept.

and if it were malpractice ..you would be too. It seems to eliminate all liability from the doctor..

And it is put onto the tax payer in a socialized systems. That is if the government allows you the privilege of being able to sue the government doctors. Cutting such cases would be a great way to limit costs. How about it Scoobie? What are laws in this area in Canada?

How many new drugs, medical techniques or equipment come out of the government run Canadian system?
What are the price controls in place to drive costs down and what are the affects on supply?

No one can have a right to medical care considering you have to breach other people's rights to provide it. Why not just force doctors and nurses to provide care at no compensation? You'd be violating a lot fewer people's personal property rights at the same cost.

If the government does so well with health care, why not nationalize everything? Food production, car production, education (oopsie...already done with great results

), gas production, media and TV... The list could go on and on.
Please someone explain to me.

Why not have socialized car insurance? Isn't transportation a right?

The private doctors were the ones that rallied for the elimination of compensation and got it.

The Govt doctors had no need for those insurances, as their employer carried it on their behalf.

IMO public health care shouldn't be considered a "handout".

What's better for an efficient economy ?

A full compliment of healthy capable drones, or 30% unable to efficiently participate due to chronic illness.

Gary's point about pre-emptive medicine has merit.

How much heart disease would be eliminated if basic dental care was available free ?

Exactly as I stated. How do you feel about being forced to subsidize potentially bad doctors? How hard is it for gov. doctors to be fired?

In some areas of the US the drop out rate from FREE high school is about 50%. Imagine how much better they would be if they actually took advantage of the free schooling.

What other "preemptive" moves should they take to make sure the drones are healthy? Putting a tax on non-diet cola, ban fast food for being too fattening, have checks of your waist line and tax you more if you don't fit, ban smoking...etc?
Your privacy rights go out the window if you are going to cost the government money.

Now that more people have health coverage in Massachusetts, they’re looking to make doctor appointments. Trouble is, there aren’t enough primary care doctors to go around.

In Massachusetts, the wait to see primary care docs has grown to as long as 100 days, while the number of practices accepting new patients has dipped in the past four years, according to the Boston Globe. In 2004, the average wait time was 47 days and the longest wait was 87 days, the newspaper reports.

The delays sound a cautionary note on the perils of universal health coverage: Once people have coverage, there needs to be capacity to treat them.

Kate Atkinson, a family physician in Amherst, Mass., started accepting new patients in January. By her count, 18 doctors in the area have closed their practices over the last two years, with many physicians joining the growing ranks of hospitalists.

“There were so many people waiting to get in, it was like opening the floodgates,” Atkinson told the Globe. “Most of these patients hadn’t seen the doctor in a long time so they had a lot of complicated problems.” She closed her practice to new patients again six weeks later. “We literally have 10 calls a day from patients crying and begging.”

The state has passed a series of measures to try to boost boost primary care. They include expanding medical education for aspiring primary care docs and repaying medical school loans of those who agree to work in community health centers or underserved areas.

Just because he makes $300,000+ a year doesn't mean he has to be wasteful and drive expensive cars and live in expensive houses... Why live beyond your actual needs, isn't that what got your country in the mess it's in in the first place?

It was a joke.

Isn't a government a representation of the people who have elected them? So isn't it you as your culture/society that has gotten you into the mess?

Just pointing out the fact that that concept is at least 200 years old.
