Cars I hate

First gen Neons. They look like a pregnant beetle.

Suzuki X-90. Looks like two covered recliners sitting side by side.

2nd gen Taurus. Looks like a big fish bowl.

The Chevy Malibu that had the chopped off rear end. Made it look like a cross between a sedan and station wagon.

All of the box shaped vehicles are ugly as sin.

Smart Car. Nuff said about that.

Dodge Charger. It's lines are way too choppy looking. *****!

The Camrys that have the roof that looks wider than the rest of the vehicle.

1st gen Fiesta. Looks like a roller skate.

Dodge Trucks. The grill is ugly.

The Sonata from 2 gens ago. They look like an ugly attempt at a Jag copy.

Toyota Echo. Just plain goofy looking.

Geo Metro. They look like if you pushed on the side of it, you could easily tip it over.

I, for one, loved the bustleback Seville from the 80's and have been looking for one.

In the spirit of the thread, I miss the brand identity cars used to have. I'm also especially against all these cars that look like the wind-up key fell out of the back.

That's down right funny... And the exhaust pipe that hangs down. I think the Avalon is the model that has the most extreme roof line as wide as the car though.

I never liked Ford's whole 80's to early 90's line up save for the Mustang. The Escort especially but the Tempo, Taurus, and even the Crown vic that always looked like a cop car in your rear view mirror. Everyone of them looked and felt like they the used the same parts from the same cheap parts bin. I could go on and on about what I didn't like about them but strangely I actually did like the Fords in some ways

This thread is funny (seriously, I like it). Pure unvarnished opinions, and plenty of them.

My "hate list" varies over time (although Toyota is and will forever be on it). But mostly I hate cars that seem to attract really BAD drivers, or at least promote bad driving habits.

Best and clearest example: 80s and 80s shoebox Volvos seemed to define that category- I assumed that it was related to the fact that those cars were always reported to be among the safest on the planet, but I never figured out the cause and effect. Did really, really putrid drivers gravitate to Volvo's because they knew that was the only way they'd live long enough to reproduce (God help us all)? OR was it that being behind the wheel of a car believed to be extremely safe encouraged stupid decisions and habits among average drivers??

Then there was the 90's Nissan Maxima. Nice cars, but driven by idiots much of the time. Was it because they believed the "4-door sports car" advertising of the day?

And now it seems to be Nissan Cube and Scion XB. Driven by madmen (and madwomen) half the time. They drive like they actually think those cars are fast and handle well... the cars are constantly being put into maneuvers they aren't fit to execute safely. I can't tell you how many times I've had one of those catboxes try to merge ahead of me instead of behind, screaming at full throttle, only to get cut off and have to slam on my bakes because they can't get up to speed as fast as they thought they could. And they're ugly, too.

And speaking of ugly- I still haven't forgiven GM for the Pontiac Aztek, Buick Rendevous, and first-year Chevy Avalanche with 500 lbs of plastic body cladding.

YESSS!! I'm glad I'm not the only one who wondered why Toyota let that exhaust pipe hang down like a hemorrhoid in need of surgery for 3 generations of the Camry!

Hummers.

What's the point? They are massive, get poor mileage, are horrible to drive on the road, and built cheaply so they make horrible off road cars.

The exterior screams I'm big and tough, but in reality its just a half ton truck underneath. The H3 is just a Colorado underneath and is super pointless.

GM couldn't even give them to the Chinese!

In terms of styling, I'll add the 1991 Caprice. A few posts back there was discussion of the Camry and Avalon's roof being too wide for the car... they got NOTHING on the 1991 Caprice.

Also, gotta say I'm not a big fan of the latest GM/Chevy pickups. I admired them for sticking to "conventional" post-1950s pickup styling while Dodge, Ford, and Toyota went with "big rig" styling through the 90s and early 2000s. But the latest generation looks like the front end got stung by a bee and swelled up- the hood and front fenders are too big for the rest of the truck.


I'm not a huge fan of the Cadillac CTS styling... but its growing on me. And if its a CTS-V and has that magnificent drivetrain... well, it looks pretty d*** good when you're sitting behind the wheel! Same feeling goes for the 300 SRT-8, but then you have the choice of getting the same magnificent SRT-8 drivetrain in 2 other attractive cars (Challenger and 2011-up Charger) so its not really an issue.

Yes, its hideous and believe it or not, I mentioned it here on the forum and someone said its a "feature" Toyota uses to control noise and vibration. Uh, huh. Sure. Somehow every other manufacturer does it just as good or better without making a car that looks like it'll drag over every speed bump.

I know, the hanging exhaust pipe was so conspicuous and stook out like a sore thumb. It looked like some DIY hack or muffler shop installed the exhaust pipe.

Yes, its hideous and believe it or not, I mentioned it here on the forum and someone said its a "feature" Toyota uses to control noise and vibration. Uh, huh. Sure. Somehow every other manufacturer does it just as good or better without making a car that looks like it'll drag over every speed bump.


My Corolla's exhaust system looks like that too. It looks like it needs to be tucked up about 2 or 3 inches closer to the cars floorboard. Why Toyota left it hanging down like that I'll never know...

Yeah... a goof by any other name is a "feature." I can just see two Toyota engineers looking at the Camry as the new generation rolls out... They both look at each other and say, "I thought YOU were going to fix that &!^@ pipe this time!"

my neighbors have a pea green aztek, got it new and still have it. takes a beating and is rock solid reliable.
