I don't hate anything out there. In fact, what I love is the diversity of choice that we're blessed with. There's something for everybody.

I do get a laugh out of people who need to use cars to bolster a shallow self image or to proclaim to the world that they have arrived. I think there are manufacturers that market to the shallow self image crowd, and the shallow self image crowd buys into the notion that a car will make them feel better about themselves.

It's especially funny when you realize that the person driving the "look at me" car is probably deeply in debt on the vehicle, or worse yet dumb enough to get suckered into leasing a vehicle. I think there are manufacturers that market to the shallow self image crowd, and the shallow self image crowd buys into the notion that a car will make them feel better about themselves.

I hate Miata's because usually they kick my [censored] at autocross...
They also taunt me with their cheap price, low weight, rwd, and excellent handling... Unfortunately they aren't that good at handling two car seats...

Pretty much any GM from the 80s-early 2000s except the Camaro, Corvette, and Trans Am.
Most Chryslers from 90s-2000s.
Old people cars (ie. Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, Cadillacs, LeSabres, etc.) because the geriatrics driving them are dangerous to themselves and others.
Priuses because they're slow.

Chevy's after the 60's.. Chrysler's after 1989.. and Toyota's tend to hate me so I tend to hate them although I really like the Yaris.

Certainly there are people that buy an entry level Benz or Bimmer to put on a show. However, both of those manufacturers make some higher-end cars that are a LOT of fun to drive and are made for the intention of being marketed and sold to enthusiasts. So you can't broad-brush too much. The same thing happens with Lexus and Infiniti products as well.
People did (and do) similar things with big expensive SUV's like Hummers and Escalades. Those things are priced even higher!

66 Mustang GT350. Rode in a red one with White stripes when I was 16. Little 289 impressed me.
72 Buick GS455. Neat car!
Duster or Demon with a 340 and 4 speed.
68 Chevelle. I had a 69 Chevelle with a V8 and 3 on the tree. I like the 68 tailights better. The 3 on the tree was great! Why don't they offer that today?
95ish F250. Must be the extended cab or 4 door, 4x4 and a stick shift.

A certain Datsun 1200 that I drove during high school. It NEVER ran right (Hitatchi carb), and burned a quart of oil every 88mi.

Same here. Try not to get stuck behind one of them. They drive 10 mph under the speed limit and brake for no reason.
With that said, I will not be surprised if I behave the same way and drive a couch when I'm 70, too. But until then...
