Enough of the threads that brag on our cars. What cars do you hate.

My top of the list are Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, Jaguar. Dont care what model. I hate the styling and every one of these thats been in my shop rattles, squeeks and has all kinds of noises coming from the front suspension.

Plus almost any maintenance on these cars is a major undertaking. Volvo's are not as bad usually. I still hate them.

These cars don't "Do" anything or "Excite" me in the least.

Cadillacs with the 4.1,4.5 or 4.9 engines. Another brand thats a maintenance nightmare. The 4.1 used to eat cam and distributer gears. I don't know how many I've had to pull out and replace those parts.

These cars don't "Do" anything or "Excite" me in the least either.

That mid 80's Caddy with the chopped off trunk was awfull looking.

Ford Taurus. The first gen Taurus was ugly. Looked like an inverted bathtub. The PS lines went completly around the engine and always needed replacing.

The tie rod ends were rubberized and needed replacing constantly.

2nd gen Taurus was slightly better. Still an ugly car. I'd never buy one but with a gun held to my head I'd choose one over a Benz or BMW.

97 and newer F150 and Expeditions. Another ugly couple but they are a truck. Many under hood parts are under the windshield. Gawd I hate replacing the AC Accumulators on these.

The flying sparkplugs make me chuckle.

Chevy Suburbans. Pretty much useless unless you need a bus to carry 9 or more people. Why not buy a bus instead? These rattle like an old Jalopy. Atleast the front suspensions seem pretty tough............Untill the PS box breaks the frame.

Other notable cars I hate are Lexus, Saabs, VW's that have a radiator, Audi.

73-87 GM trucks. The doors on these never shut right and they eat ball joints. Just take a trip to your local landfill to see these trucks broken down on the side of the road, loaded with trash and with a front wheel laying over.

Jeep Grand Cherokees. Blend doors that break and electric radiator fans that fail. They had a whole car with plenty of places to put the electric fan relay. Why did they put it behind the bumper?

Thats all I can think of now. Rant off

Caravans. Hey, let's make something with low lead solder that fails after ten years, and VIN-tie it to the rest of the car so you can't run used modules/computers.

+1 on the taurus. Let's use a pinch bolt to grab the strut into a threaded part of the steering knuckle. If that bolt snaps due to rust, go buy a new knuckle. (They couldn't spend two cents on a separate nut.) Let's put cooling fins on the PS line that aren't shielded in any way so it'll cut you to ribbons if you're working near it.

Isn't your view of the universe a little skewed? You work at a shop. People only bring cars to the shop when they're broken. Isn't it possible there are a lot of non-broken ones out there that you just never see?

FYI, my 9-year old BMW doesn't have any rattles, squeaks, or noises coming from the front suspension or from anywhere else. Should I bring it to your shop even though it does not need any work?

Exactly. I could say the same of my 20 year old BMW and my 30 year old MBs.

Pontiac Aztecs. Never could stand the look of them.

A lot of car stylists try to out-radicalize the competition without considering whether or not it passes the natural pleasing-to-the-eye test.

Yes but he is probably talking about Benz's newer than 1995. Like starting with the W210.

Haha Me too!

I hate the interior of early Dodge Neons. Dash 'juts' out way too much, and the severe 'cab forward' set up makes the car feel like the front end is plowing into the ground.

I know they are good cars, but I drove a '98 on a road trip once, and just couldn't stand it.

Of the 20+ cars I have owned, the only one that I wish I had again was my '89 BMW 325is. Reliable, comfortable, fun to drive and beautiful. I should have fixed the few things it needed (at 250,000 miles) and kept driving it. I occasionally look for another one. I am still kicking myself for not at least flying out to CA and looking at a black '89 that had 57,000 miles and a clean Car Fax. If everything had checked out, it would have made a fun drive back to FL.

Aww, c'mon....the HT4100 has a lot more design faults than that.

I do like the Allante'. No real reason I should. It came with the same horrid 4.5 and 4.9 as the other Cadillacs and it was partially made in Italy so it had Italian problems in addition to having a wretched engine.

I dislike German cars. But I kinda' like them too. I just hate installing aftermarket electronics in them. They use 4 different fasteners for one assembly. Wiring is covered in this horrible cloth tape that will leave a greasy residue and black stains on everything. It somehow manages to not stick to wiring ever again but it will stick like [heck] to your skin. And the wiring is often retarded (except BMW....BMW is remarkably normal.) Exposed live terminals and multiplexed wires everywhere on other makes.
You know what is insulating the interior from the engine compartment on a high end Mercedes Benz? a plastic garbage bag full of sponges. Seriously. Lift up the fuse box by the driver's side cowl. Big black plastic garbage bag full of foam sponges.

in spite of this and their complete lack of understandable secondary controls, I still dig Mercedes Benzes.

I don't like X, J, A, and H body GM vehicles. I suppose I would find a J-body acceptable in Z24 trim with a 2.8 or 3.1 but that's a stretch for me. The rest of the cars maybe reliable but they are just awful to drive.

Any Taurus prior to the current version except early SHOs

The Kia Sephia. This is an example of how you take a perfectly good Mazda Protege' and ruin it.
Ford Escort. See Sephia. add Constant Vibration and Harshness motor (CVH)
Mercury Capri XR3. Australian version of how to ruin a perfectly good Mazda.

Ford Tempo. No redeeming qualities. Wretched little jellybean.

Pontiac Aztek. or the Dodge version...the Caliber.

Can't say my father's 96 E300D with 250k miles on it is any different...

Hate Fords and anything made by Volkswagon/audi/porsche.
Pure junk.
Ever see a porsche after an accident???
Motor up in a tree, body in pieces thrown in all directions.
I laugh when I see some joker driving a porsche.

Guessing you haven't driven or even sat in a Ford made since 2008.
