Terry recommended that I do the FP60/LC20 regime from result of the 13Nov05 sample and I threw in the schaeffer EP moly as well

I changed the air filter upon seeing the 35 silicon, looks like I should change the air filter more often, or maybe the dry paper filter is not as good as the viscous paper at stopping dirt.

The neo-magnets on the oil filter could have interfered with the iron reading. I opened the used oil filter and I could see "markings" on the inside where the magnets were outside but the markings were quite faint.

I wonder why the additive package looks different, eg Magnesium, sulphur and zinc though it's supposed to be the same oil but different dates of manufacture. Perhaps they tweaked the additives. Or could the sulphur be coming from the LC20/FP60/EP moly ?

You know the starting Viscosity@100'c of Carlube? 12.3 & 11.8cSt looks like it has sheared to 30wt oil.

does blackstone include soot, nitration, oxidation, and sulphur when you buy a dyson test? I don't think this is part of their standard analysis. what about insolubles?

the Silicon may due to the paper air filter. did you keep the previous viscous paper? (that's the nissan oily paper, right) if so, put it back in, it has service life left. IMO you can't do better than the nissan OEM air filter, and it should last 15k miles or more unless you live in a very dusty area.

I can't explain the other anomalies. strange there's no moly, especially since you added shaeffer's moly. or is there no moly in that stuff??

I don't see the need for any additives. IMO, use up the additives you have, and don't buy anymore. The oil seemed to work just as well alone in the previous UOA.

Everything looks good and no reason to change out oil this early. Previous TBN seems high enough for 7.5k intervals.

You can't beat some of those OEM air filters. If you're using aftermarket or store brand, lose it for a new OEM filter.

What brand/PN oil filter used?
Any oil consumption?

By switching labs, you kinda skew comparison data. So, even those I compare current to previous, there might not be anything to draw an accurate decision on.
You'll learn more from your next UOA if the lab/oil/additive are the same.

If I don't remember wrongly, starting vis for carlube 5W40 is 14.3, so you're right, it has sheared

Well, that was my first time using Dyson analysis, those parameters were in the report. For insolubles, the report says:
"Soots/solids: Clean fuel soot, and solids"

Junked the previous filter, yep, it's the original nissan oily paper filter. The dry paper filter is also from nissan. It's quite dusty here in Singapore, for a couple of months last year, the whole island was blanketed with thick smoke/haze from forest fires in Java and Sumatra, started by people clearing the forests for cultivation.

Yeah, that's the funny thing, the previous sample which I didn't add molyEP, I had more moly in the UOA ??

Yep, I have been using OEM air filters. The dealership puts in the oily one which they say can last 25k miles. But I usually change them in 10k miles with the dry paper ones, also from Nissan.

The oil filters are also from Nissan, P/Ns are:
15208-65F00 - short type
15208-31U00 - long type
I haven't had any oil consumption.

Yeah, I realized that switching labs might skew the results, but someone brought in Schaeffer analysis kits at a very good price, so I went with them. Will stick with them for a while to establish a "baseline".

I went 6+k miles with Schaeffer 5W30 on my latest run without any additives, just got the results, will be posting them soon.

Check for a tear on the underside of the rubber air intake hose near throttlebody opening.
