Car prices to rise due to tariffs and certain vehicles possibly ...

Sure, at least some. But depending on the product, this takes time, expertise and money.
We don't educate enough engineers, we import them.

And there is certainly no guarantee prices will be lower. Probably the opposite.
Nothing you said I disagree with. The economy is a complex multidisciplinary science that is also a moving target which you are trying to hit while moving yourself.

Semiconductor Manufacturing left the US a long time ago.
That is the main problem trying to be addressed, and maybe some tariff's aren't the worst idea to get some manufacturing back into the US.
But the pointlessly confrontational, uncertain, ever-changing roll-out plans, just makes it worse for everyone. It is "bad for business", and especially the remaining manufacturing we have in the US and Canada. I think sneaking in some single digit tariffs on key industries could've started the process of bringing manufacturing back without blowing the whole thing up.

I think many companies with manufacturing facilities in N.A. with cross border supply chains, could just shut down for a few weeks and see if this is going to stick or not, before deciding to invest billions on building a more expensive supply chain that will be vulnerable to the resumption of free-er trade?

Other thread said Ford was going to offer everyone a 3% "Employee Discount" but what does that mean on auto's that will go up in price...ha! Some folks will still buy thinking they got a "deal". 😅

Please. The tariffs are hardly surgical or targeted. If you want high tech manufacturing here, start with education.

Do we have an available workforce to fill more lower and middle income positions?
Doubtful because many in this country feel above that and want a trophy job with big pay and generous benefits from day 1.

This. ^^^^ Plus drug and medical device manufacturing too.

American families need to learn how to pool resources. Basically act like their immigrant forefathers. I'm looking at a deal now where a 30 yr old programmer making $150k yr just bought a $1.1M house with a $125k mortgage. How? Savings and gifts from relatives. If Americans aren't willing to do this then they will age out of existence because other people ARE willing to do it.

And then it will once again make sense to turn rotors instead of replacing them.
That, and maybe people will start shopping for vehicles that are within their financial means; or repair what they have. Not everyone needs a Mercedes, an $80K F-150, or a brand new car when all their current vehicle needs is some routine maintenance.

How is Ford going to pay for the pensions and other promises without selling $80k F-150s?

it's called generational wealth. It has to start somewhere.

What about my Nike $200, soon to be more, shoes?
Of course we could make them here, iafter 2 years of a factory build, and then I could pay $400.

Adidas tried to mfg them in America. Couldn't compete and failed.
I think New Balance are about 70% "Made in America".
