Can't sell excercise equipment. LOL

Try advertising the tread mill and bike as a clothes hanger as thats what ALL tread mills and bikes end up doing anyway after 6 months in the corner of the bedroom...
Not all. We've got about 925 hours on our Peloton Bike+ since we bought it in 2021. I would prefer to ride outside, but the climate for much of our year, and some drivers mean that's not a great option.

I watch FB Marketplace for deals on Peloton Row and Bike+. So far, the prices aren't convincing enough for me to pick up another one. Lots of non-"+" models for relatively cheap, but I would miss the + features.

After you give it away you wish you had it back. I had to give my hot tub away for free just to get rid of it now my wife won't let me buy another one.

so one of the things that we needed to get rid of is a tread mill and bike after my moms passing . i tried selling it for cheap like $75 for both . they wer probably never even used by her .

after a couple of weeks linger on FB and CL , i came to the conclusion that no one buys these kind of stuff when they are all over the net for free. some folks even offer money to have them removed.

So i ended up putting them on for free. Even free it took a week for someone to get them . Excercise machines are like hot tubs. Fun in the beginning , but just sit around after the novelty has worn off

life is so interesting sometimes
When we moved I wanted to get rid of a small colour TV we no longer needed. Perfect working order.

We advertised it "for free". There was very little interest. One of the few people who called wondered if we would deliver it. Nope, we're moving and kind of busy.

When we moved for retirement, we gave away as much stuff as possible. But we were left with a very full 15 cubic yard junk hauler of mostly furniture which cost about $800 to have them remove from house and hual away.

Right before COVID, my son, a HS anthlete, asked if we could buy some more weight plates for home. We stopped at the local WalMart and bought four 25’s and four 10’s

Over the next year he bought and sold stuff until he had a weight machine, and full sets doc Olympic and 1” weights.

Now he’s in college and the stuff sits in the garage, mocking me….

I feel you - I had a gym in my old house and left it to the buyers - a large TV, surround sound system, treadmill, elliptical, a spin bike, rowing machine and quite a few weights. It would have been impossible to sell these things.

Don't worry, he'll start using them when he moves back in. :ROFLMAO:

My elliptical machine reached the 5th stage of exorcise equipment long ago. (The 5th stage is a place for hanging damp laundry). I walk for exercise these days. 🥾
A group of hockey dads were talking about drying their children's equipment after games and practices.

My friend said, "That's easy - I hang it on the exercise equipment in the basement. Might as well use it for something."

Many many people talk about health and exercise at the end of the day few actually do it.
People expect immediate result because that's what they are told on TV. Want to lose weight? Instead of discipline, here is an injection. Want to get in shape? Here is a gadget for it.

And so on.

This and half a day set back and they abandon all hope.

I blame a lot of things! Too long to list. Mainly modern lack of physical activity to diet based on sugar and grains starting with babies first solid food - rice cereal, then oat, wheat, etc…

Your mother’s pattern china is not worth anything anymore. Maybe someone will take it. Maybe.
My MIL still thinks crystalware is a hot item. I'm not sure how to tell her nicely, but the 70's are over and no one wants this stuff. I mean we'll take it for the memories but a lot of it ends up in the trash at estate sales I'm sure.

We'll have multiple China sets coming our way in the future. I'll be eating off of them on a daily basis not saving them for special occasions. Same goes for golden spoons etc. I'll be living like a king! :ROFLMAO:

Nowadays if you sell something mechanical, electrical is very helpful to post a video with the actual thing working.
That tells the people the equipment is working order.

It's usually hard to sell things that require pickup or van transportation. It depends also the area you live in.

We used to move a lot of pianos for my dad's business when I was a teenager. Lately, most piano's just get moved to the dump.

That's too bad. But look slike a nice market. Instead of moving the piano out and needing a few hulks to do it, disassemble it in the house and take it out piece by piece. Might be a little sad to see that happen though.

None of the kids on any side of our siblings will will take a China set. Tells you something

When I was a child, my parents had lots of things "that are too good to use" (antique chairs, silverware, an ancient reel lawnmower that didn't work, etc.) , so they hauled them from house to house and city to city.

When my sister and I cleaned out Dad's house, we gave away what we could, and threw out lots and lots of stuff. We both had to take weeks and weeks off work to get rid of stuff. It was overwhelming.

Thus, I am trying not to leave a lot of (material) stuff for my children.

I hear ya. I spent 6 months of weekends cleaning up my father-in-laws stuff, most of which was "not good enough to use."

100%

Cleaning out a relatives house after she died was a game changer. I was pretty minimalist before that experience but now I think twice for sure before making a purchase.

I have a lot to get rid of as well, if it's not functional or a valuable memory, it's garbage time.
