Can't Get Mobil1 0w-40 In My Area, Will Delvac 1 5W-40 Be Decent ?

I've been trying a few oils in my car in past months and wanted to give Mobil1 0w-40 a try. But we can't get that oil in my area, but I can get Delvac 1 5w-40. I kinda wanted the 0w-40 as it has been reported to be somewhere between and 30 weight and 40 weight. My engine calls for a 30 weight oil from the factory. Not sure if the Delvac 1 might be too thick. Its for a 2.4 L Turbocharged Dodge engine, that only sees summer or warm weather use , primarily daily driving.

Any opinions on Delvac 1 5w-40 in a gasoline engine ?.

Have you checked to see if Canadian Tire will order the 0w40 for you? I know you can buy 0w40 M1 in Etobicoke and Noco lubricants.

On a side note, where can you find Delvac 1? They don't sell it at Walmart anymore.

I didnt think of asking Canadian Tire, do you think they can get it ?. Patman if you can get me the addresses of places around the GTA with 0w-40 let me know, I live in London, but I can always drive up there once and a while , not that far.

I didnt know Walmart stopped selling Delvac 1, that's where I planned on getting it. I havent really checked lately but I used to see in the past. darn.

There seems to have been a re-alignment in the ExxonMobil/Imperial Oil marketing and distribution in Canada over the last year. Now, all of the ESSO bulk plants, gas stations and commercial refueling stops can provide both Mobil and Esso lubricants. Here in Vancouver, if you find the right one (the commerical cardlock in Cloverdale, for instance) they have them all in stock. From what I've read, NOCO is the location of choice in the GTA, but there may be others.

I live in St. Thomas just south of London and have been using ESSO XD3 0-40 in my Cat diesel. You can but it at Dowlar Karn - the ESSO dealer on Hwy 3 just east of St. Thomas. The oil is now a full syn. and sells for aprox. $4.50 a litre. A great deal on a great oil. Roger

Well Roger beat me to it but worth repeating; Dowler-Karn (631-3810)has all the Esso and Mobil line. Was in there on saturday to pick up some xd3 0w-30 but there were all sold out (they could order though) and they had plenty of xd3 0w-40.I went with 6 litres of M1 0w-30. Sorry i cant remember if there was 0-40 M1 there i was after the 30 weights.

Anything around the Windsor area...I have around 8 4l jugs of Delvac 1 in my supply after talking to a Wal-Mart guy.He told me it's not being sold here anymore

so I went from store to store buying up the stock.I should be good till spring..but after that

The motorcycle oil is probably closer to what you want. Delvac’s additive package is optimized
for diesel use, including soot control, with a large dose of magnesium.

The motorcycle oil particularly suited to a turbocharged engine, with a relatively small dose of VI booster, formulated to withstand high heat. It also has higher levels of zinc and phosphorous.

Do you guys think Esso oil is somewhere close to the Mobil1 quality, I always thought it was just a repackaged Mobil1, but likely not.

Hi fellas:

I have been using the dino Xd-3 15w-40 and 10w-30 for a few oil changes now, All i can say is it is cheap and readily available. Lots of contractors and diesel fleet owners around these parts use it and have heard only good things about it. As far as it stacking up against Mobil i am not sure. I will be trying there PAO 0W-40 synth shortly in my next change, its the cheapest reported full sythn for 4.19 a litre I figure I cant go wrong. Any Esso bulk dealer should be able to get you either product from the Esso and Mobil line of lubricants. Hope someone here can get some info or facts on just exactly how much these two different oil stack up to each other or if they even differ any at all. Looking forward to some more info from any other Esso users.

I picked up 2 jugs while I was cottaging there.

In all my Turbo Dodges I have run the Amsoil 0W-30 series 2000 and just converted the 2.4 Turbo in my PT GT to it. Also changed the Getrag to their ATF.

I would sign up as a prefered customer and go that route. I have used it, Amsoil for oh, 450K miles in my 4 other cars along with their foam air filters and spin on and bypass filters. many at TD.com use it and some like me swear by it.

Havent had any problems at all.

I was just window shopping for some Winter oil the other day looking at Mobil 1 0w - 40. On the back of the 0w 40 it said -65 poor point was that Fahrenheit for us Americans? If so its got me looking at it. My old Toyota really likes the 15w 40 in the summer. After seening the 19,000 mile UOA on 0w 40 Mobil 1 it can't be to bad can it?
