Test your "old" age. This is the new "buzz" for teens and ringtones for cell phone.

It's a ultra high freq that only young people can hear and us old folks can't. I can hear it "barely" if I turn up my sound really high with kids they can hear it easily at lower volumes.

The "sound" that you will hear (or not if you are old) is like when you turn on your TV and it "powers up" it will be that really high "ping" that comes on.

There is a really cool NPR story about it how it was used as a "teen repellent" and then the kids took the frequency and made a ringtone so they could use it in class and the teachers can't hear it.

Yeah, I had to turn up the volume pretty high to hear it.

Pretty funny about kids using it as a ringtone. Darned kids always challenging authority. First it was that crazy rock & roll music, now ringtones..... what's next?

My daughter can hear it in her room. She "hates" the sound, even when I have the volume on low. I have to turn it up pretty high to be able to hear it.

That's the sound CRT monitors and TV-s make when they are on. I have always hated that sound because I am very sensitive to it. I can walk by a house, and if there is a CRT TV on in there, I will know. Monitors make fainter sounds.

I heard it loud and clear. I hear noises like that all the time that my friends think I'm crazy, I can even seperate out specific noises in machinery. then there are the voices that nobody else claims to hear...

I heard it fine. And all the other voices in my head say they can hear it too

On the little el-cheepo speakers that came with the computer- nope, nothing.

On some Philips headphones that came with a portable CD player- nothing.

On a pair of Koss on-the-earphones (Model 75?)- just barely. I'm 53- guess the years (& loud jobs long ago) have taken their toll.

What's the frequency of that tone?

Eh? What'd ya say?

Of course when they answer the phone, everyone who has any hearing left hears: "yo! dawg! what's happeinin'? oH? No?" for the guys, and a classic "Helllooooo! Ohhh miiiigaaaawwd! Yeewww whaaaatt?" for the ladies/valley girls.

They can't beat you at this game!
