Can Derale dual filter mounts be used as bypass mounts?

Derale has very poor documentation on their remote filter mounts. Has anyone used the dual filter mount with one full-flow and one bypass filter? How did you plumb it?

Or, could you run a sandwich mount that retains filter in almost-stock location and run the sandwich mount line to a Frantz or Amsoil remote filter? I do want the 2um filtration benefit, but I’m also interested in gaining ~2qts of oil capacity.

Pretty open to any ideas since this is for a gasser and nobody really makes specific kits. Thanks, and thank you to all my fellow veterans for your service and sacrifices!

@SubieRubyRoo - You might consider:
In January of 2011 I purchased a https://www.paretopoint.com/topdog-v for my 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser w/55k miles. Today I'm still running this remote bypass filter system. My FJ now has 232k trouble free miles, and doesn't consume any oil. I Have always run and Amsoil EaBP90 on the remote filter mount. I've run this system on 2 of our other vehicles too. No regrets.
Over the 13+ yrs its been on my FJ, for preventative mx on the FJ, once I changed the 1/4" hyd hoses, and twice I've changed the o-rings.
Here's my original mention of my TopdogV system(s) here on BITOG: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/pics-of-3-bypass-systems.150086/

This is the simplest to set up, keeps the stock filter in the same spot as the vehicle was engineered, two hoses to which ever filter and filter mount you want to use, these add 1 inch to overall filter length., this one is made by Derale, I can say they are good quality for the money as I have bought two of these.

Amsoil uses a checkball spring in their dual mount, works the same as the check ball/spring in the Derale I posted, it will consistently feed your bypass filter 2 psi. I don't think running a Derale twin mount will work very well without the check ball/spring, there won't be enough pressure drop from the full flow filter.

I have several Perma Cool universal oil cooler sandwich adapters The 189 has different bushings to fit most small cars and pickups. You need a 3/4 16 filter to screw on the adapter. An example is my Ford diesel tractor. A Ford FL 1A with hoses running to the Flat head Ford V8 canister filter with half a roll of VIVA paper towels. Had to install a smaller filter on the Pontiac. The sandwich adds about 2 inches. That sandwich you have looks good.

I would probably mount one Australian Jackmaster Classic in place of the Amsoil. Filter. Two Jackmaster Classic filters in parallel with air fitting so there is no spiiage when changing them. I dont like spin on filters. One bypass filter is all you need . Two in parallel would be a little better cleaning. Actually I would use Motor Guards because I have a few extras.

Subie, did you decide on a set up for a bypass filter?

Not yet lol, I’ve spent 12 total days at home this year. And probably at least 8 of those have been spent on the honeydew list! 🤣

I’m thinking of doing it with the largest Donaldson Synteq I can find, and then bleed it over through an Amsoil BP110. It would basically double the sump capacity as well, meaning 30k+ OCIs would be an easy reality.

What's vehicle are you putting this on?
You mentioned it's a gasser

That's Awesome!
The mounting could be a challenge
You might need to get creative like A310
If it's naturally aspirated I would proceed, if it's a turbo I wouldn't waste my time.
The Amsoil BMK 23-E Dual-remote bypass I run on my 2011 Ford Expedition EL(in my signature)has been great. I've been running for 9 yrs+, and 300k+ miles. The vehicle currently has 400k+ miles on it.
My Full Flow filter is an Amsoil EAO-26
My Bypass filter is an Amsoil BP-100
I increased my sump from 7 to 9 quarts
That System is a Universal remote, and not specific to a particular vehicle.
Here's a few pics
Good Luck to you 🤞

Im not very smart. My mind cant understand how that system makes any sense. I can understand running a couple of hoses to a bypass.filter and leaving the full flow filter where it is.

My 93 Subaru Legacy only has 240.000 miles on it. Dont use it much now. It has a Motor Guard on it with a sandwich adapter. Also a Motor Guard on the automatic transmission. Getting hard to start when cold. I think it needs a senser that gives it a rich mixture when cold. I think I can see it if I stand on my head with a mirror its near the temperature gauge sensor.

I can answer your question
Amsoil sells an adapter that screws into where you would attach a spin on filter.
The adapter has 2 threaded holes for fittings to be screwed in, 1 for outbound and 1 for inbound Oil flow

He already has a good system. He could use tees and hook up two bypass filters in parallel. The best filters for that would be the Australian Jackmaster Classic with optional air fittings so you could push out the excess oil before changing. Some are putting the Frantzs upsode down. I assume they get off spilling oil on the floor.
