The 2 cabin filters were in my E430 for about 18-24 months, when I replaced it I put a Bounce sheet on each filter as a prefilter. The Bounce sheet is black with dust and grime but the filter itself is very clean, barely any dust/dirt or sand on the filter. Replace the 2 Bounce sheets and reinstall the filter back.

If the cabin filter for your cars/SUV's are expensive, extend the life of it with a Bounce sheet and it gives a nice smell the first couple weeks too. Just change the Bounce sheet every year or two.

Why didn't I think of that?

Gonna try it now!

better yet, do what i do and cut a regular 20x30 furnace filter like a 3M Filtrete to fit. I can usually get about 6 car filters out of one furnace filter. Not bad for the $20 spent...

I used to do that, too.

My car has two filter choices from the dealer: the basic cotton gauze, or an activated charcoal.

Whatever you use, cut the furnace filter to fit or OEM filter or aftermarket filter, try the Bounce sheet to see if it makes any difference. You can use Bounce as prefilter on activated charcoal, but the charcoal will eliminate the fresh smell of Bounce.

Don't think I could do the bounce sheet.

Would remind me too much of working in a prison where the inmates would hang a dryer sheet from the air vent in their cells to "freshen" up the room.

In reality, it turned it into a choking/nauseating smell of dryer sheets and funk.

I'm with you......Those dryer sheets make me kind of nauseous.

+1 use one that has been through the drier, I use them on the front of my computer to catch the goodness. If they are wrinkled just iron them flat and cut with scissors.
