Built in Phono stage question - preamp

That said, neither holds a candle to the richness of the Goldring E4. Wowser
Goldring makes wonderful cartridges. My Music Hall MMF 2.2 came with a Goldring Cartridge which I upgraded from elliptical to a line contact. Made a $275 turntable sound twice it's price.

How much experience do you have with the other half - MC cartridges?
I have a Audio Technica ART 9 MC on a VPI Traveler 1.1, fed into my Emotiva Pre with King Cobra interconnects, which has a MC input with sensitivities that match the cartridge well . That is the totality of my MC experience.

Great cart with a soundstage so deep that it oftens sounds like the music is coming from outside my living room windows. When you listen to a symphony, you can tell where the musicians are located and how deep into the soundstage they are. Warning, MC is a deeeeeep rabbit hole. I only scratched the surface. Does that help.

Thanks I am fully satisfied with the Goldring straight to the Marantz. Magical!

The output of your phonograph is low impedance and low gain like a "line out".

I wouldn't really call an MM cartridge "low impedance".

I scored an Ortophon red premounted cartridge for just over $100. That should satisfy my itch to see if I can hear a difference. Haha haha 😂

Yeah, your, I suppose, Ortofon 2M Red will be happy with your integrated prepreamp.

I know what you are saying, the mids and highs are much much better than the AT-VMN95E.

The AT-95E is crap anyway, vastly overrated.

As a weird aside I was relaxing watching some YouTube videos and some guy did a review of the WiiM Ultra I have

He said pretty much said what I did about the sound quality being EXCELLENT through the WiiM, he ran through all the features. I was pretty surprised to find out how much he liked phono stage then I learned I could set it up for MC cartridges! I guess I should have read the whole manual- I just saved $300+ IF I go MC cart.
