Buffer or hand action?

I have one of the original Ultimate Detailing Machine random orbital buffers (it has more torque than the current UDMs which are now re-badged Porter Cable units) and I love it! I originally bought it to do paint correction on my black Corvette, and it does a fantastic job of that, but I also found it makes quick work out of putting a coat of wax on it too. I use the black pad (which has virtually no cutting action) and I set the speed to 3 (out of 6) and I can do the entire car in about 10 minutes. Doing it by hand would take at least twice that long for me, if not more. And I definitely use way less product when applying it with the buffer, and because the coat is thinner it dries faster and buffs off way easier. I've never been able to do super thin coats by hand as easily as I can with the buffer.
