Brand loyalty poll

i dont have much brand loyalty. i had been using M1 because it was the cheapest syn in my weight and readily available at walmart. since coming here i tried gc and my car likes it. but soon i will be using AMSOIL for the 15000 mile drains.

i really dont care which conventional oil i would use, supertech works.

I've been using Trop Artic semi synth/Kendall in both my vehicles. Great price and a great oil, thanks to learning about it on this site.

I've been using Havoline for years....how come i've never been offered a position in this cult?

I guess i'm not that picky but Havoline has worked good in many vehicles, just kinda like to stick with it.

Although i'll use cheaper stuff such as Supertech (nothing wrong with it)

Since I'm still a member of the shrinking 3,000 mile OCI club, any decent conventional oil at a cheap price, mostly Wally's SuperTech supplied by Exxon Mobil here in RI.

SuperTech's definitely good stuff - whether the ExxonMobil variety or Warren Performance Products formulation. But, you might also consider trying a change with the TropArtic syn blend. About a buck-and-a-half a quart at WalMart.

When I had a car that mattered, I used Amsoil until I got tired of dealing with them, then switched to M1 and didn't look back. I ended up with a super running 221K engine in a car that fell apart around it.
My present Dodge-Cummins is not fussy on oil. I have a surplus store where I was able to get Diesel oil 10W30 and 15W40 for .97/qt. Mostly Havoline Ursa and Exxon XD (not syn). I recently jumped in on the .99/gal Delo 30 wt. and Castrol Techion rebates and presently have quite a stash.

Bottom line,loyal when it really matters, otherwise whatever is the best deal.

Mostly M1:

GC/M1 in the Sentra w/Nissan OEM filters, Redline in the transmission.

M1 in the MGB w/Canadian Tire filters, Canadian Tire's conventional 20W50 in the transmission.

M1 in the ZZR250 w/Fram "element" style filters, shared sump between engine/transmission.

Further to my earlier posting on this thread, I should note that I have been using Mobil 1 synthetic in the car that my daughter drives. I've been using syn in that vehicle because it doesn't have a block heater. However, I'm thinking about switching it over to Pennzoil Platinum because it's less expensive in this area plus I'm confident that the Pennzoil syn is a good product which will serve in this application equally as well.

Dino = Havoline
Blend = TropArtic
Synth. = Royal Purple or Pennzoil Platinum (former Mobil 1 fanatic)
Trans. = Any decent name brand fluid
Diff. = Royal Purple exclusively

Friends cars? = SuperTech

I started using amsoil series 3k and like the results so far but i dont have a used oil analysis to conform but at almost $10 a qrt it getting out of hand so i may try scheaffers blend or 5W40 full synthetic and see how that works.

Eddie and others- a lot of people like to point out how they have 200k+ on their cars with a particular brand of oil without any oil related problems, but I seriously doubt anyone would have an engine fail because of oil related problems with just about any modern oil these days, esp. at around 200k. It's kind of like the 90 year old who says the secret to his longevity is drinking a glass of whole Lucerne milk every day.
