How has people's experiences with part store brake hoses been? Looking at Napa, Advance, Autozone, Oreilly or Parts Plus. Will probably do which ever is most cost effective unless I notice an obvious difference in quality.

Just replaced the rears on my 92 Cutlass recently. NAPA and Advance had the exact same part, both made in China, and NAPA was cheaper which surprised me. They seem to be made very good.

I bought a name brand hose from rockauto and it arrived with the hose labelled "goodride" from China. Kinda mad but it works fine.

Iteresting, I just ordered hoses from Rock Auto, I did not buy the cheapest but it will be interesting WHAT I bought.

I bought front hoses from Auto Zone for the Rat's brake system overhaul. The old hoses worked, but they were cracked and brittle.

My 21 years old 370k miles LS400 still has original hose, no sign of any problem.

Probably because we have nicer weather in So Cal so that all those hoses are in good condition after all those years.

I bought ac Delco hoses for my truck and they were made in china by a huge rubber manufacturer. I would have no problem getting new lines at the auto parts store. It's going to be very similar between brands aka hose made by one company and sold under 4 different names.

I always found that in my area, NAPA had better prices on brake parts than Adavance or Autozone. Advance is a joke when it comes to prices and you will wait a long time in line because they are under staffed.

I had a front hose blow on a Honda, but it was 18 years old.

More to the point, I have had rubber replacment hoses on my Triumph that would expand under pressure making the brake pedal seem spongy.
In that case I replaced them with steel braided Goodridge hoses. It made a huge differance.

Had one blow after hitting a huge pothole.

Chris142-
I was inspecting brake hoses, as part of tire rotation, and the rubber looked like new. I wiggled and bent one under light pressure and it broke into two pieces at the junction where the metal line joins the rubber hose section beneath a sleeve. It was all rusted thru due to trapped moisture. The other ones were the same.It even passed the annual state safety inspection.I emailed the manufacturer about their poor corrosion protection and they did not care, saying their brake hoses net the applicable industry standards. The takeaway from this is to look further than just the rubber.
As mentioned by another poster, you don't see deteriorated hoses because you live/work in sunny southern California.
