^This is somewhat of a follow-up to the conversation being had there.

I've spent the past 2 days reading various things on here, reading things on other boards, and talking to friends who have the exact same car as me.

In all that reading and talking, I've yet to find an oil besides Brad Penn that no one seemed to have any complaints about whatsoever.

Some like M1 0w40 due to it's MB AMG approval and it being the right weight. Others don't like it because it made their M5x/S5x motors noisier. I read a few posts on here that mentioned that and I've got 2 friends that say the exact same thing.

Some like GC 0w30 and it is probably one of the internet's most highly touted oils. The only hate I've really heard about it is concerning folks not wanting to support BP in any shape, way, or form. I'm leaning toward the standpoint that, while it's a thick 30 weight, it's not thick enough for my application.

I've read the love and hate put towards Royal Purple.

I've read about Rotella T and T6.

AMSOIL, Redline, etc...

My brain is nearing the point of being fried.

I've learned a lot from this board in my time lurking and learned more thanks to the thread linked above and a couple pm's from some very knowledgeable people.

I've now returned full circle back to Brad Penn. I'm currently running their 20w50. I believe it's too thick. My mpg's have gone down slightly since making the change to it from whatever random 5w30 oil the car lot put in the car before I bought it.

Here's the specs on Brad Penn's 15w40, which I believe might be the right fit for my application:

^Based on those numbers, would M1 0w40, GC, Rotella, or any other oil in a Xw40 weight provide me with more protection?

Cost isn't a huge concern, but the other plus side to the Brad Penn is that I can get it for $60 a case.

Thanks again in advance for any/all responses and advice.

The Brad Penn being a boutique oil as i call it, it popular amongst the drag racing scene. The 10 or 15w40 is the one i would use personally. The Mobil would be much dearer than the BP but you may be able to run it longer than the BP due to its higher TBN.

The Rotella everyone seems to love on here may be another good option for your car.

I personally run Brad Penn Penn Grade 1 40 wt. in my 440 Dodge. It's a great high-performance oil if you don't encounter cold temperatures.

They have a 0W-30 to 'make up' for that......

Remember, they are catering to an 'old school' America muscle-car crowd - their biggest seller is most likely 20W-50, whose users remember the 'green' Kendall GT-1 20W-50 from the 1960's...

A 'Euro spec' 5W-40 is of no interest to THAT group!
