These are pics of the bottom end of a 1996 Toyota Camry 2.2 5SFE with 192k miles. Dino all of its life. Will soon get synthetic. Any suggestions to which oil I should try? Daily driver, short tripper, looking to do 5k change interval, sees mostly city with occasional highway trips.

I've been using Maxlife full synthetic, and my car has been running extremely smooth, although it is rather hard to find, and can be expensive if you buy it from a Valvoline Instant Oil change center as a last resort

I'd use exactly what you've used before, if the engine sees at least some 20-30 minute runs, 5,000 miles on dino oil will be fine. Your driving conditions are very similar to the conditions my Aerostar is used under. I run 5K OCI on dino oil all the time with it.

I don't see the need to move to syn. Conventional oil is working just fine, and will continue to for 5k changes. Save your money.....

I am trying to clean up the varnish a bit with PYB but has not really been working. I am thinking of PU or PP. I really like Amsoil in my Camaro right now so that could be a possibility. I am currently doing 3k OCI since it sees ALOT of short trips and want to move up to 6 months/ 5k miles intervals.

+1 just do what you have done and enjoy the rest of the time you have left with the car. No benefit to use synthetic here other than emptying your pockets faster.
