Bottle and Tyre

Hello,

I found a bottle right in front of my front tyre.

I removed it before driving.

I was wondering if I had not noticed and drove over this beer bottle whether it would have shattered and damaged my tyre, or simply driven over it.

Has anyone had this experience?

I don't think a beer/wine bottle will hurt a tire

My NYC driving experience seems to agree with this anecdote

I ran over a beer bottle just like that and it cut the tire but not past the tread depth. I would have cared more except that I knew I was trading the car in about a week or two and the dealer was going to put new tires on it anyway. I'm sure it could have cut through if everything was just right.

I ran over some broken glass in the street a few times. No flat tires to report. Sharp metal objects are a different story. Even had a hard piece of plastic puncture a newer tire that I had plugged.

Glass won't get through a steel belt. I get punctures all the time on my pushbike from glass.
