This is my vote...the vents allowing air back into the tank are plugged. Try leaving the gas cap off and see if the problem is resolved.

I have this issue on my boat. The idle will slowly get lower and lower after a few minutes. Did a rebuild on the carb and the idle jets were clogged. Haven't put It back on yet though, bit I'm betting that was the issue.

So I looked up the specs of my Marine mechanical pump at work.

40 gph at 1000 rpm. 6 to 7 psi
50 gph at 3000 rpm 8 to 9 psi

And it gave me a pump rating at 60 rpm for a prime situation.

I don't trust any electric pump to perform like that for me. Especially when I factor in dependability. The boat sits for 5 months at a time.

This weekend I'm putting the new cap, rotor, spark plugs, wires, and putting my m22070 pump back on it ( the special version of the reclockable Carter SBC pumps)

I'll keep you all posted.

My carbureted truck had an issue where over the course of 4 minutes, the idle would get slower and it would run rougher until it dies.

The float needle had a small amount of slime on it, and it would slowly over fill until it flooded the motor.

I took a brown paper towel, scrubbed it, and it never happened again.

That was 3 years ago. Issue never came back

Here's the standard clockable small block Chevy fuel pumps through the Precision. I believe ImportDirect uses the same number system. At least for majority of electric and mechanical pumps.

I just feel my electric pump will cause issues, either immediately or down the road.
