Hi

I drive a BMW E92 335i (N54) European version. Recently my BMW dealer did an oil service, they labeled the oil as original BMW oil 5W30.
I have been told that the European BMW SAE 5W30 Quality Longlife-04 is exactly the same as the Castrol Edge FST 5W30 which was first designated as the Castrol Edge 5W30 Longlife-04.
My question is: is this really Castrol Edge or perhaps the Castrol Magnatec? I also heard that BMW puts additives to make the quality better.
Does it matter if I only use the Original BMW oil instead of the Castrol Edge?

Then on YouTube I found this interesting clip of a test between the two:

What you think of this clip?

Best regards

The spelling is Magnatec. :)

BMW's oil is definitely bottled by Castrol, but I don't know if they're just relabeling it. Regardless, it is a very good oil and you can use it without worry.

In the US some had suspected that the dealer oil was an Ashland product. In addition in the US the diesels get a 5w30 LL04 and it's actually Castrol Edge OE Professional fka SLX instead of a BMW labeled oil.
