BMW Battery Registration Success

I bought both BimmerLink and BimmerCode for my F25 X3d and they were probably the best purchase I made. It certainly saved me a lot of money in maintenance and repairs, as well as providing in-depth view and control for the many systems in the car. These along with a Veepeak OBD interface and you've got 99% of dealer-level diagnostics available.

There is also ISTA+ which is even more detailed and in-depth, but without proper training you can potentially really mess up your BMW.

I highly recommend the first 2 to the average BMW enthusiast owner. Well worth the purchase cost.

$1200 for a starter is wild! Intake manifold removal should only take an experienced mechanic 1-2 hours at most. It's just like shops charging 6-8 hrs for the valve cover gasket, when it only takes 3-4 hrs.

$150 to register a battery is also a bit much, when there are so many free resources to do it yourself.

Out of warranty BMW ownership is not for the faint of heart!
I think we all had a heart attack with that $1200 price. I just did a check and remanufactured oem starter from Bosch is $250 online for the OPs car. Figure $350 from an independent BMW specialist. 2 hours for the manifold and another hour for the starter replacement (being generous, but "book time" always is. Labor is typically around $250 in my area...so $250 x 3 hours, plus $350 = $1100 plus tax and shop materials brings you to $1200 easily.
