I never received any notice either, but luckily my sample was delivered to the correct address.

Sent it via UPS, Blackstone received it Friday and I had my report emailed to me on Monday.

My UPS took it without question but asked that I box it up so it doesn't get lost. Figure they know what they are talking about so I boxed it up. Last 2-3 times got my UOAs from Blackstone the very day UPS said they'd arrive (via E-Mail). Bout $6.13 with tax to ship via UPS.

"Liquid..just like the sticker I affixed states".

"Is the liquid flammable, or potentially hasardous"?

"No, it's used motor oil".

"OK, but is it flammable or potentially hasardous"?

"No, Ellie May, it will not blow up or catch fire".

Sounds just like the same run around I got a couple of times at the post office here. This one girl is so out of it. First time she refused to take the sample. When I came back later that day with the letter, all the other clerks just watched the show. The postmaster was standing by also. Now when I take the sample in there is no hassle. Just the one clerk is the only one I've ever got the hassle out of.

I sent off three samples on April 24th, with the old address, and had results in my e-mail last night.

I find the service really helpful with maintaining my three vehicles.

i would like to send in my sample prior to the next oil change. How many miles should i put on the current batch before i sample...currently have 1500mi on RP 5w30. Will LC contaminate the sample, rendering it uselss?

sent a aviation oil sample in a while back. nothing forever, then i get a strange call from the USPS, left a message on the recorder at the house that made no sense at all.

then come home a week later and find a 3'x2'x2' box from the USPS on the deck with HAZMAT labels all over it. wife is on the HAZMAT team at work, and i am an engineer with HAZMAT experience. no explanitory letter or anything, just the box. after much discussion, and looking at it, we finally open the box.... and find inside my little blackstone tube mailer. no leaks, no nuthin, they just panic'd at the sight of "oil sample".

of course, by this time we had jerked the engine out of the plane.

I find it somewhat perplexing that there can be such a wide range of mis-information at the USPS. I've sent half a dozen samples to Blackstone, and no one questioned anything until the last time, when I had to show the counter clerk the statement Blackstone so kindly supplies on their website. And, yes...all of my samples were sent post 9/11...

HAZMAT. Right.

Its only a matter of time before you will be arrested for trying to send these out by USPS. Used engine oil is a Carcinogen and thats why the HAZMAT concern. By sending it thru the mail you are exposing others to this and thats probably the big concern after the recent news stories of dangerous things be sent to Washington. You are probably lucky you did not end up on todays news, suspicious package at local Post Office prompts rapid response from local police and fire etc.

I noticed Amsoil is now using plain unmarked boxs for thier samples. A year back I had the PO (someone their noticed me dropping it in the mail box and went and retrived it) refuse to accept one of those metal sample containers.
