Best Synthetic Oil?

What ever is cheapest for my driving purposes.
Since I am stocked up for the next year on PP from the various BOGO's.

That is my 'best'.
Sure would like to use M1 or Hav or Valv or Am if they ever went BOGO.

Tough one...

Can RLI be on the list?

PP is really turning out to be the BEST Synthetic on the market for the money. Valvoline is also up there. I've always been a M1 guy but I would say my top 3 would be

1.PP
2.Amsoil
3.Valvoline

RLI is too new for me to know and Redline seems to excel in racing.

Best for what? Cold weather, hard driving, long intervals or best image. Best if a tough question. Mobil 1 is factory fill on some very expensive vehicles but does that mean the factory picked it as best oil, or was it just the best deal, financially, that still gave them a very good oil. Maybe we should call GM or Mercedes and ask them, maybe not. The better question is to start a BITOG poll and ask what synthetic do you use. Using it is kind of like a vote that means something more than idle talk. Should we start a poll?

I dunno what's best but I've used the following:

maxlife synthetic
synpower
M1
GC

next up is probably RLI in the Dub. Will continue to use Synpower in the Toyota.

All these top three lists. What are you guys basing it on? Group III vs IV levels in the oils?? UOAs ?? Unvalidated heresay?? Price ?? Virgin Specs ?? But perhaps asking this will make this thread incomprehendably complex -each person probably has different criteria - some perhaps very good criteria.

But if someone has some encompassing knowledge from length of time on BITOG - if they could give a quick break down on why these oils should be ranked in a certain way, that would be very good to know.

On the criteria note - I don't know anything about Penz. Plat. but it seems most of the time I've read where people chose it, it because they got a 2for1 deal on it somewhere. I'm wanting to take a '98 Sienna out to about 12k (presently on M1 EP 5w30 - will do UOA then) - so 2for1 is not the grid I want to use. (though it may be a great oil).

The "best" and "top three" threads are usually based on speculation and are essentially popularity contests. I participate for kicks and giggles because I am watching the kid this afternoon and I've only got a laptop to keep me entertained.

The title of your thread asks for the "best" but in your opening sentence you want everyone to list their 3 favorite. Which do you want?

Top three for what? Real synthetics or grp III synthetics?

Racing/Performance:
Redline
Amsoil
#3?

Extended OCIs:
Amsoil
Redline
#3?

Best Price:
PP
ST
#3?

Best M/C:
Amsoil or Redline, haven't decided yet
#3 probably Mobil 1 V-Twin

Best that's easy to get almost anywhere:
Mobil
PP
#3?

OK, here goes -

#1. GC 0W30 - Never used it, but I understand it's heavily PAO, and it's a "heavy" 30 wt (12 @ 100) - which I need for my '98 Sienna w/ 135k miles. I just have to find an AutoZone that sales it.

#2. Mobil 1 EP - Bought my van at 62k mile - nothing but M1 since.

#3. Amsoil - very high tech oil, but apparently drifts up in weight with high OCI (I want the weight I buy). I used Amoil in my 88 Mazda in the mid-1990s w/ true 25k OCIs (once per year - long commute) - the car has been on Mobil 1 and dino since, but it still runs perfect (213k miles)!
