Amsoil (best overall)
Redline (best racing)
Pennzoil Platinum (best value)

In my opinion regarding 5W-20/30
Amsoil (best overall)
Redline (best racing)
Quaker State QTorque Power (best value & lower Noack than Platinum)

O.K. other than brand loyalty or $$$ cause of selling the stuff .What makes the favorite chosen brands better and what is the proof?

For me, published undisputed comparative testing by non profit independant laboratories using ASTM test methods, recommended and warranted extended oil change intervals, typical property or data sheets, lower operating temperatures, more performance, better shifting, better mileage, company reputation, quick delivery to my house, huge selection of synthetic lubricants and filters, lowest cost per mile.

Color is all that is important. Ya know, how cool it looks

1/Royal Purple (sad it doesn't last)

2/German Castrol

3/Old Kendall (The one that was green, before green was good)

***Hey is Redline red? If so, and it stays that way, then it is the best, overall!

I had read that Terry had said that Pennzoil Platinum was blended similarly to German Castrol. I am assuming that this is the G-V stuff that PP was originally? Is that correct? It seems that Pennzoil Platinum is a good oil for the money, (I have about 25 quarts myself) but it also appears that it is now just your run-of-the-mill G-III synthetic. I like Pennzoil products, I probably use them more than anything else. I can't justify being loyal to just one brand when everyone is always trying to either one-up the other companies by making their product that much better or cut costs by cutting corners. (which we have all seen)
