Best retail found waxes?

Go to www.autopia.org and visit the forums. Mention NuFinish over there and they may jus hunt you down and kill you.

With that said IMO the best over the counter wax and sealants you can buy would be duragloss, mothers reflection, S100 wax and collinite.
 
I bought Consumers Reports #1 rated wax "Black Magic Liquid Car Wax" $6.00 a bootle, gotta a buy one get one at AA months ago. Put a coat on every three months,(2nd time a week ago) easy on/off. Wife used it on her vehicle, she liked it. Vehicle looks shiny/wet and slippery to touch. Was gonna do Zaino but after researching their web site forget it. One product they recommend re-apply every three months, for more durablity , must buy additional products , total $41.00. Might as well stay with what I got.
 
I have tried many waxes and sealants...Klasse..Zaino...Rejex..Wolfgang...and the list goes on..the best sealant I have used for protection and looks has been Duragloss...It rides thru a NE winter with no problems....

I have bben using the Marine polish..which is paint safe ..to clean the paint...its the best cleaner/sealant product I have used to clean paint....

here is a Pic of just after using the Marine Polish 501..just to clean the paint..it added a nice gloss also...

the Marine polish is very durable since its made to with stand being in water 24/7 and aslso salt water...its very slick to prevent a scum water line...


then next gay I used the 105 over it....105 is a sealant with both Polymers and resins..the resins mimic the look of a wax...

I have been using the Duragloss for a few years now...best money spent..and not a lot of it either...

topped with Aquawax monthly its a hard product to beat...

Also for winter if you like you can top it with Collinite for the extra protection..its a bulletproof system....

Call the company & ask for "Jerry" in the Lab as He is one of the founders of the product\company... & really hols up to a NewYork Winter!

What is the brand name of the marine wax and can you buy it localy? How is it to work with? Thank you!
 
The Marine Polish is Duragloss #501,,,,maybe able to get from Carquest or maybe nappa..they may have to order it from the warehouse....

remember Duragloss calls their sealants A polish...but in reality they are sealants.....the 501 Marine polish you will not be able to layer cause its a strong cleaner also....but the 105 or 111 you can layer.....

Which Duragloss product do I want for long term durrability and pure protection? Shine is nice but I'm looking for long term protection. So far nothing has last as long as Nu Finish butI have never tried the Duragloss. I need to give it a shot.
 
I have good results with Klasse AIO and S100. I use the Porter Cable and a polish and finishing pad. The cars stay garaged, so the carnuba in S100 last several months. I also use it on my work vehicle, a 2003 Ford Expedition. I usually clean it with Klasse twice a year, and apply S100 every four months. Most people who see the Expedition think that it's new.

I have used just about every store bought wax and thought they all pale in comparison to Zaino. After using Zaino on my truck exclusivly the past few years and ending up with water etchings that will not come out, I gave up on them and switched to Nu Finish (cheap, readily available and decent shine) Its not as deep of a shine as zaino but it doesnt get attract dust like zaino and seems to last quite a long time (beads like crazy after 3-4 months) I am pretty upset with zaino that I have water etchings after such painstaking care (multiple coats 3-4times per year, handwashing with their wash, their Z-6 and Z8 detail spray every couple weeks) I wish I didnt waste the money, I could have not used anything and spent the cash on the repainting of my hood.

And for the record, it's not me speeding up and down Johnson Road.

We don't have many problems on Johnson Rd during the hours I work (9pm - 7am), less the occasional loud party or false alarm at the day care just off Hwy 29! But I heard those motorcycle cops are ---- on speeders during the daylight hours!

It's a great department to work for. I have been with the city for 7 years now, and can't imagine policing elsewhere.

Oh yeah, I've seen the motor officers many times during the day. On 29 too, near the high school. Gotta watch your speed in tha L-town!! Except on Sugarloaf Speedway, that is. We all drive like maniacs there.

Good to hear that you like working in the dept. I'm sure others agree with you as well. A happy cop is a good cop AFAIC. Thanks for all your hard work.

Sorry for the thread hijack. Back on topic, the new Autozone on Five Forks has a good stock of the usual retail waxes. The Pep Boys on W. Pike St. has been remodeled and seems to carry fewer car care products, but their selection is still very good. The O'Reillys over on GA 20 (Buford Dr) has some good stuff, and cheap too if you want to deal with rebates. Finally the NAPA next to O'Reillys stocks those new 3M car care products for those who want to try them.

There.... a brief review of retail waxes in suburban Atlanta. Hope that's helpful to y'all.

The Duragloss will last 6 months or better...I use it for the winter and do it around Oct and come May its still beading strong and looking good...

last year what I did was polish the paint with menzerna...I applied the 601 bonding agent and then did 105 and another coat of 105 a few days later....then used Aquawax when I could after a wash during the winter....the salt and road grime just rinsed off with just w rinse spray at the wand wash....truck looked like new after...very good durable products....I used Klasse before Duragloss and to me they both had equal durability....its just a cost factor now....

I used to use NuFinish for years (early 90's). It worked better on my Jetta (sits outside year round) than anything I had tried previously. That was until I used Autofom with Fomblin A. It would outlast NuFinish. This is over a couple of years of testing.

They discontinued the product years ago when the company was bought by Rain-X.

Rain-X has a similar product out called Ultra Wax. I don't know if it is the same as the old Autofom, but it works as well or better than NuFinish according to my limited recent testing.
 
lol, I just saw some Autofom for sale locally. I was hooked on that stuff. Anyway, Mother's FX SynWax has been ~awesome~ for me. I hope it lasts.
 
Many OTC products are now a days just as good if not BETTER than many of your "botique" products are.

Using Nu Finish as you sealant and one of the wonderful and inexpensive carnuaba based waxes on your paint will yield great results.

I just tried the Black Magic also. Like you said easy on, easy off. Very glossy and yeah it does feel slick. I've used Nufinish for years, cleans well, shines well, but I'm tired of the scratching it causes.
