You keep using the words " good in snow..." and "all season..." in the same sentence...!

Here is the short answer, again... NO all season is GOOD! in snow. Adequate, or OK, or so so... but not "GOOD...".

So, buy whatever you want, and good luck. I truly hope you don't crash on one of those really, really snowy, cold, ugly winter days, few as they may be, and then be asking yourself if your tire choice could have maybe prevented it...

Because I've seen it before... these all seasons will be fine, I'll just slow down...be careful, or, I don't drive on really bad days... right. Then a nasty storm rolls through, and the news says there are 200+ accidents...2-3 hour delays etc... and I guarantee you that most of those people, if they could choose tires again, wouldn't be waffling around looking for the...

..."BEST LOW PRICED ALL-SEASON THAT'S GOOD IN SNOW..."

They would be buying winter tires... !

I have personally had all season tires that are not only good in the snow, I'd say they're excellent...in fact, I have some now on my Corolla that are just that...besides, I don't know how you can make such a claim without trying out all of the all season tires made personally...

EVERY winter tire must pass a traction test to earn the mountain/snowflake rating, beating a standard control tire in ice and snow traction by a certain %.

NO all-season needs to pass ANY test to be labelled M+S or all-season... because there IS NO TEST...! The tread pattern must meet a minimum tread to void ratio, and if it does, the tire maker can label it all-season.

You pay your money, you take your chances... maybe that all-season is ok in winter... maybe it is terrible...?

Good luck wih your purchase, whatever it may be... !

Calling it. This thread turned into something else. The OP wanted some input with certain conditions met. Some of you who posted tried meeting those conditions. Others just posted things which didn't help. Instead of wasting your energy typing just keep on moving down the list of new posts to read and don't bother wasting your energy.

Grampi I hope any of the productive posts will help you find a tire that meets your criteria and that you get the most out of your money.

I have (for the last 1.5 days) installed the CS5 Touring on the Yaris. will report back.
Grampi, good luck this winter.

The CS5s were installed today...they are much smoother and quieter than the old tires, but then again, new tires are always much nicer than old, hard, worn out ones...the real test will come with the first snow...
