Ban on petrol and diesel cars due in 2030 may have to be scrapped

This is the fallacy of EV's that pushes me away. IMO it is a massive transfer of wealth not the carbon-neutral message pushed forward. We need a more viable solution and to date we simply don't have it. The lack of transparency of the issue) have turned it into an ideological battle that divides. Nothing constructive comes from that.

That's exactly what it is. Same with this whole, "Green New Deal". None of this has anything to do with, "green"...... Except the paper folding kind, that our government prints by the pallet load.

It's all about wealth and control. Nothing more. And they've got every progressive voter duped into it.

It's not reality until EV infrastructure and affordability are both present. But it's nice that our government can dream.

California passed some similar legislaton that ban's the sale of gasoline powered vehicles by 2035.
It sounds like a great idea on paper, save the earth, prevent global warming, etc.
But it will end up costing the consumer a lot of money.

A hidden looming safety catastrophe of electric cars is their weight.
Pickup trucks can weight as much as 9,000 pounds with the electric batteries.
If one of those has a crash with a regular gasoline passenger car, the occupants of the passenger car might have a much higher risk of death or serious injury due to the very high forces of having a crash where the other moving vehicle weighs 9,000 pounds.

Not to mention you aren't technically allowed on some roads/bridges with that kind of weight. The Hummer EV is well over 4 tons IIRC.

I read an article about used vehicles ( both legit and stolen) were being shipped to countries like Benin. I had to look it up.

The EV spin doctors said this is because EV’s are causing a glut of used vehicles. LOL. Sorry, not yet.

LOL I recently got a knock on the door from some guy pitching solar panels. I think I might have set a record for sending him packing faster than anyone he ever encountered pitching solar panels.
Haha! Last summer a guy and a girl knocked on my door trying to sell me solar panels. She gave the original pitch. I said I'm not interested. The guy then said don't you care about your neighbors? I said F them and slammed the door in their faces.
I actually like my neighbors very much. They don't need to know that.

LOL that would have been my reply too, and then I'd tell them to take a hike. FTR I have good neighbors, unfortunately two of the very best passed away.

Lol.
I know, source is in rank of airport toilet that wasn’t cleaned for 2 months.
It seems to me that this really bothers people that are not affected by it at all. And suddenly they care about environment, bcs. batteries. Because, nasty water from fracking, oil fields in Nigeria etc. are right in the ballpark of Greenpeace manifesto.

Nice word salad.

But they’re not. That’s why only a few states are willing to even attempt 2035. Even the 2035 states have lots of loopholes. Allow some PHEVs, HD ICE trucks, etc, etc.
If a few states with large metro areas are willing to attempt 2035, manufacturers will build majority electrified models by then and cut production of ICE vehicles down. Doesn't matter what state you live in if the product you're attempting to purchase has limited availability due to manufacturing. To my understanding, even if the US stalls until 2040, there are way too many population dense urban areas that supporting all-out EV manufacturing and charging is a pipe dream.

Wealth transfer from where to where in this case?

You've seen the skylines in the middle east right?

I cannot imagine the move to EV's to be a larger wealth transfer than whats been occurring for the last 100 years.
