Can't find a professional tint job for cheaper? The most reputable tint installer in the whole Philadelphia area quoted me $180 and that's with a full lifetime warranty.

Didn't Lao-Tse say the same in slightly different words?

Just about every tint place says lifetime warranty, that doesn't mean their labor or the film is any good.

A lot of places use the dyed Suntek films. Even their carbon models are dyed, which means their longevity is questionable in hot climates.

I am going with Huper Optik, which is a true ceramic film. It is multi-layered, normally goes on house windows, and the heat rejection properties are better since the stuff has to qualify for energy reduction incentives.

Got the Huper installed today. They did a very good job and the Huper looks great. It blocks an incredible amount of heat, as I was able to drive in 80F weather on the highway with the A/C on its lowest fan setting and still feel cold.

The 50% on the front and 30% on the rear look light for their shade. There isn't as much of a difference between the two shades as I had expected, so I will have to be careful.

I will post better pictures soon, but here's one from the cell phone:

Also, it turned out the clear bra was not repairable. The two shops said the installation was simply too terrible and said replacement was the ideal option, but suggested that I consider living with it for a few years and having it redone again once the current one wears out.

When I get a new car again, I want to get those sticker film that covers the entire car. That way I wouldn't have to worry about scratches and such for a long time. Personally, I prefer to have the entire car's exterior Rhino-lined and not have to worry about it. Shiny paint is more of a headache than joy for me.

I know the feeling of trying to save a few bucks and trying to help someone out as well. I had a guy worked on my vehicles for me. In the beginning, he was much cheaper than dealership or indy but toward the end he was actually more expensive than dealership. Let's say I am not going to use him anymore unless I really have to and he's not employed at the shady garage/building he did the work out of. Folks like him can't hold a job for a reason, they are not trustworthy when it comes to money even though they may have great skills.
