B&M sources for Royal Purple 0w40?

Has anyone ever sourced Royal Purple 0w40 at a brick and mortar store? Pep Boys and Advance Auto stock RP but they cannot special order any other grades -- would've been nice since PB had the 12 qt for $75 coupon.

NAPA has it for $12.15/qt and O'Reilly for $12.29/qt.

Everyone online has it for about $10/qt but I was hoping to score it locally and save some coin.

Mobil 1 0W-40 is better, cheaper and readily available.

Just for the sake of experimentation. If the $75 coupon would've worked I see it as a decent alternative to Mobil 1 0w40.

Advance here has the Synerlec 10W40 on clearance for $5 a quart.

I agree. I prefer Mobil 1 over RP.

Unless the RP 0W-40 is the older formulation I'd prefer their 5W-40 for the inclusion of their Synerlec ester and it still has a decent VI.

The RP that I've seen in stores is still SL rated.
What would be the down side to using SL in a (non oil burning) vehicle that called for SM?

If you check RP's site, they have a dealer locator. Finding it cheaper than what you've found might be a bit of a challenge, though, since the only way finding it cheaper might require a corporate account.

Mobil 1 may be better on paper with your numbers but so are the Yankees on paper but that doesn't mean they'll automatically win the world series.

I have Royal Purple 0w40 in my sump for now close to a year and approaching 10,000 miles. I have also had Mobil 1 0w40 in my sump and I can whole heartedly say that I prefer Royal Purple 0w40 because in my REAL world experience it runs smoother and quieter through out the OCI better than Mobil 1 0w40.

Intrestingly since you prefer Royal Purple 5w40 over the 0w40, it is the next oil going in my car when I am done with this 10,000 mile OCI with RP 0w40. As usual a used oil analysis will be performed and posted here of this OCI.
