Average OCI for those here?

I am honestly floored by how many on here, do less than 5k miles!!!!....especially with all the used oil analysis that clearly show one can go far beyond 5k, especially with synthetics. I am even more amazed at how many still do 3k OCI's.
For my two Toyota's that are still on warranty, I pour in Syntheitic (Use to use M1, but am now buying PP) and allow the owners manual 5k miles or 6 months. (Yeah, I know....I could even go further, but I am dealing with the documentation for warranty and the fact that most driving on those two vehicles is short hops, city driving.....) Honestly, when the warranty runs out on these two rigs, I am going to go with a extended drain oil and try to get 10k miles.
For my son's Wrangler, it is a changed every 3 months and we pour in a dino that is usually on a HUGE sale ($1.99 YB the last fill). This rig has 165k miles on it and just seems to 'trash' oil very quickly. Yes, it probably needs a complete overhaul....but I purchased it for $3k, have had it for 3 years and will simply let my son's use it for a "kids car" until they graduate from high school and buy their own vehicles.

What you point out is true and funny.
Post a used oil analysis and you will get a ton of the "Send me your used oil / You can run that twice as long." comments.
BUT, just as you note, look at how many in this short thread are < 5k miles in their OCIs.
I was in the < 5k crowd but I am gonna put some faith in GM's OLM and Terry to see if we can't run OLM intervals for the life of my new truck.

Whatever oil you use and whatever OCI you decide on, it's just cheap insurance to keep the second most expensive item you purchase running for as long as you can.
I do 5K OCI's using PP. I do a lot of short trip driving in cold weather but I am confident that Penns Plat. can handle it.
otis24, speaking of cold weather, I'm getting tired of it. I wish you would blow that cold air towards Pablo.
I run Amsoil, Royal Purple or Mobil 1 Extended, depending on what's available when I need it. Use Amsoil, Mobil 1 or Pure-one filters. I change oil once a year on 5 different vehicles. My car is almost all highway miles to work and back and runs about 12k a year. The other four are my wife's, my mother's and 2 kids. They never go over 7k in a year.

I normally go about 5K on PP, and I might run the SSO out to 7K in the Camry. I might switch back to RL which I was going 8-10K with great used oil analysis. This time thinking I will try their 5w-20!

Another factor....what about the environmental issues of 3k OCI's? Yeah I know, nearly everyone recycles their oil, but we are all throwing away our filters. I am sure there will be a few who will flame me for this "bark chewing, granola statement", but it is a factor with me and additional motivation to move to 10k OCI's.

4000 miles for winter, 8000 miles for summer, or once a year in the spring, whichever comes first, and change the filter every other time. Subaru NA 2.5 flat four. Mitsubishi Colt, 1.5l.
I'll follow the OLM on the regular drivers - but only up to 6,000 miles, then I change it anyway. In my "fun cars" that I do not drive except for pleasure get 1 year oil changes. I'm lucky to get more than 2k miles on my Grand National and maybe 5k on the Corvette. My Harleys get 3k mile changes. I use Mobil 1 and Redline Synthetic oils.
Oh, forgot -I just changed the oil in my 08 CTS. The oil had 6,300 miles with the OLM indicating 54% left. That would be over 12k on the oil, which I am not comfortable with. Sure the oil could take it, but I just needed to dump the dirt out. I did send the sample to Blackstone last week. I'm gonna try for 7500 miles next time as that may be a good interval for me, but will see what Blackstone says. Will post results, too.
