Truck was a 98 chevy s-10 has ~46k on it.

Found a very minor (most likely) intake manifold gasket leak. I say most likely because the head gasket and pressure system was checked and there was no issues with them. I would routinely get 0.1% glycol, elevated K, Na, but no water/moisture. Truck ran great, but I always worried.

I got the intake manifold gasket fixed. I dont know if my glycol levels will go to 0 or not, but assuming that the issue as fixed, I decided to do an Auto rx dose. Completed it, rinsed with castrol. Just drained it and put in castrol start-up 5w30 (I typically run synthetics, but everything Ive seen with the chevy 4.3L v6 seems to point that synthetics dont produce as good wear #s, so I figured Id give this stuff a shot).

Well, all I can say is that now the truck seems to idle smoother and quieter, not that it was ever rough or loud. It just seems to run better than it did before, and my girlfriend seemed to agree. She wouldnt knwo the difference of what I did in maintenance, so Im guessing it isnt just the placebo effect.

I'm happy... We shall see what happens when I do the rinse and then refill on my 91 bmw.

Sounds like a great result! Did you get a noticable gas mileage increase as well?

When you did your oil analysis on synthetics did it show a greater wear number, or is it just popular opinion for that vehicle?

My results were similar in terms of smoothness-- post in the stickied "AutoRx Megathread" so we can collect more user data from the forum members!
