“Arctic Pipeline” bringing cold weather

Doesn't look fun. I am in a drafty chalet-style log cabin - the heat goes up, up and away, lol.
And the old oil burner/Boiler is just working marginally. I better budget 100 bucks a week for #2 oil.

Get a wood stove! :D

Or maybe just more chinking??
I HAVE A BIG WOOD STOVE with a center of house brick hearth w/ interior exposed brick chimney to the roof 2 /12 stories.
But No wood, LOL. Also chimney liner is suspect so the wife is afraid of fire other than in the fire box.

This design - No chinking.

Pine logs sawed flat over flat 2 sides, 6 in height cants spiked together every 3 ft.

The heat will just be coming on every 1/2 hour after heat cycle end - instead of every hour with a ten min heating cycle

At least it's not 5 deg F to zero deg F at night like the last one a couple weeks ago

Somewhere, someone is getting ready to protest that pipeline too.

I’m still protesting the switch from “relative humidity” to “Dew Point”. I realize they are two different measurements, but they do measure the same thing. I have no scale for dew point, I grew up with relative humidity.

Now, I have to go outside to see if it’s humid or not…

Somewhat related, in American football, we used to say “inside the 20 yard line”, then it switched to “Red Zone”, and now it’s “red Area”.

Seriously, who makes up these new terms for the same thing? Who determines when the new term replaces the old term?

The National Weather Service is showing this - which really doesn't seem like anything particularly special. I trust them more than anyone.

They say wednesday is a little colder than Tuesday. Of course, predicting the weather a week from now is like predicting the lottery numbers.

I hear you brother. I recently retired from a support position (Fleet-Assets) with a Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina. I hated snow and ice. No excuses….had to be there. We picked up our DOs in borrowed 4x4 crew cabs from Park & Rec. Many would stay overnight. Scrambled for cots to set up in Officers’ dining hall etc. There’s not a lot of appreciation for jail staff but you have my utmost respect. I too hope it doesn’t snow…

I'd almost love to be a fleet guy. Being a Shift LT is all but chewing up my soul these days.

I checked the 10 day and it sure looks like a Northern Illinois January forecast. Guess we're missing out on this one.

As Rocky once said, "aint so bad". It's January. I remember much worse cold spells in the past.
